I personally think both gasoline and diesel (even all electric) have their places in the market for intended use.

We know diesel is dirtier, especially if the car is not properly maintained. However, for hauling cargo and going uphill (mountain roads and the like) especially when loaded, I'll prefer to bring a diesel powered vehicle (at this point in time) as that has the torque available at a lower rpm range.

Just from personal experience of using an MPV fully loaded with passengers and luggage (where we could squeeze it in), one gasoline and one diesel. Manila to Baguio, gasoline almost emptied out its tank, the diesel consumed about a third of its tank (based on the reading) and didn't even need to top up. Both traveled together and averaged about the same speed.

Within the city though, I personally prefer driving a gas powered vehicle. I am looking forward to the LEAF's launch next year and how they plan for it's charging network. If it can be charged via a 220v outlet that is connected to a 20AMP circuit that is single phase, then that could be pretty viable, especially as solar grid-tie systems are slowly more within reach of consumers to avail and interconnect to existing breakers.

If for City Driving, I'd really prefer to go electric from gasoline, but long haul trips, I think diesel power is still more flexible and "cost efficient".

Dilemma. I’m down to 2 choices na lang Subaru Forester and Toyota Fortuner.

Siguro kaya gusto ko mag Forester since magaan compared sa mga PPV tapos loaded rin naman ng features yun nga lang kasi gas fed while yung Fort naman eh minsan napapagod na kasi ako mag drive pag malaki sasakyan. The only think I like about PPVs eh gas consumption [emoji23]

in some countries, electric vehicles get significant discounts.

Well, for the Fortuner, is the ride acceptable for you and your family? It might save you in the km/l fight, but I really don't like the "bounciness" of the ride, as a driver or a passenger. I am describing my experience on both the previous and current gen Fortuner.

why would one even consider a gasoline CUV nowadays, na hinde na nga gnayan ka loaded
price range is in the 1.650M up.

Montero ride quality is good na din .

actually lahat yan meron ang bluepower pero 1.599M or 50k more expensive.
    Tapos 2 airbags lang bluepower.

And I checked resale value of previous Gen Montero, nasa 700k pa as compared to used gasoline cuvs at 500k

Pag eto di nyo pa din na decide-an ewan ko na

Yeah. Though, I do wonder when the LEAF comes in (supposedly) next year, at what price point it would come in. Given it shouldnt be charged any import taxes for being all electric, I wonder if it is priced close to 1m php. Even the non "plus" range extender model which should have a rating of 150miles (if I'm not mistaken) should be usable for a daily city driver. And it shouldn't need much in the way of PMS so it can claw back some of the initial acquisition cost premiums in the ownership.

We don't have much in terms of cold weather so we don't need an active heating element or pump to "warm" the batteries. I don't know for cooling though since the LEAF is reliant on passive cooling.

considering the condition of our roadways and the traffic situation here,

Uh oh! Matagtag pa rin ba? I’m actually considering na rin yung Montero given the discounted SRP. Pero ang hirap iconvince ng mga tao samin yung tail light design kasi. [emoji23]

we use our cars for many years, before re-selling them.
i'm looking at the cost of battery replacement, 8-10 years down the road.
