D-max for me too.
For hardcore workhorse use with lots of off roading, I'd go with the D-Max. Wide max torque range is a boon. I believe this is also the only one among the three where you won't be feeling much of the effects of turbo lag. I've driven the 4x2 LT (IPV variant) and assuming that they have the same brake system, I'd say the brakes bite very well despite the rear drums and lack of ABS. Ride quality definitely isn't the best, though handling is quite acceptable for a truck.
If the "recreation" part is more important, you'd probably appreciate the Strada's bigger backseat and more comfortable ride in general. The power amenities are also a swaying point for me, though having them installed in the D-Max shouldn't be much of a problem. If it helps, I'd also mention that the Strada has a much heavier steering than the D-Max.

Our company uses several Strada GLS for the field personnel. Very capable naman off-road. Usually yung mga site na pinupuntahan ay nasa bundok.
OT: Pero come to think of it, L300 lang dati service ng aming field personnel. baka inaahon nila din ng bundok yun. LOL
For company use i vote for Dmax but if you are equipping a fleet the L200 appeals also beacause aside from the advantage of having ABS they give a not-so-insubstantial discount. For one unit i inquired before less 50k so savings add up when quite quickly when more units are bought. I'm not sure though exactly how much more they can get less if you get more units.
How times change no? Before, families could get around using an L300 or Lite Ace with less than 100hp. Companies would use a Nissan Bida, Tamaraw or L300 FB, and okay na. Ngayon, maunahan lang ng turbocharged Evo or Subaru sa highway, or hindi makatabo ng 200kph, underpowered na daw.![]()
Some companies (i.e. Chevron) have mandatory safety requirements for company cars (dual airbags, ABS).
Strada will do the best job for this category. The Brute is kinda useless 4x4 without the LSD, i like the gray interior thou.
Doc, ayaw mo TOTL? Ganda nyan S&R vehicle.
Another option is K2700 4x4 para derecho abulance..hehe

Shell also mandates ABS and SRS for fleet vehicles and even personal vehicles if it will be availed through their car plan.

What Dmax variant yun black police car na lagi ko nakikita sa Valenzuela?
pang bundok, dmax. but as with any business purchase, price has a pretty convincing way of swaying a decision. iirc, strada 4x4 were offered for 990k * diamond vv last May. probably less than that kung peak motors. and this year parang walang tigil sa promo ang mitsu. likely because of their 50th year anniv thing. my point is to check the final price for each after standard discount and not the listed price. the difference just might be more than 125k between some models and not the ~50-70k spread.
does the new Dmax LT 4x4 have ABS already? What is the srp?

Konti na lang Ranger XL na. And the Ranger has ABS, one airbag, and rear LSD. Alloy wheels, too.
Out of curiosity, power mirrors na ba yun Strada glx 4x4?

Hi everyone, I can't seem to start a new thread. Basically I'm looking for an alternative to a Ford Ecosport (higher ground clearance vs. a sedan) because of the very long wait time and pickups seem to be the obvious choice. However a 4x2 is ok with me. The basic 4x2 models seem to fit the Ecosport budget (around 800+k) so my question is which 4x2 is best? Power windows, locks, and ABS?
The Ranger XL 4x2 for 959k has the basic things you need - power amenities and ABS/EBD. It's already cheaper to run than the Ecosport thanks to its diesel engine, and is also more durable and spacious. Another option is the Hilux 2.5 E for 987k.
However, I would seriously suggest you add an additional 100k for the Ranger XLT.
The extra 100k gets you the ff:
- Dual airbags
- 6-speed MT vs 5-speed on the XL
- 17" rims vs 16" on the XL
- Leather steering wheel
- Steering wheel audio controls
- 6 speakers vs 4 on the XL
- USB connectivity
- Voice control
- Bluetooth connectivity
- iPod/iPhone connectivity
- Automatic headlamps
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Power-folding mirrors
- Cruise control
- More power (XLT delivers 145 whp (from 148 bhp rating). XL 4x2 is said to only deliver 120 bhp though no idea on whp)
Thanks. How is the waiting time for the Ranger? The Ecosport is taking forever. Is it the same with the Ranger?
