Thanks for keeping the thread warm with your continued replies

So far, the XTrail 2.0 is already out of the list -- earlier posts here made me realize that a sedan will serve our purpose better than an SUV.

The Elantra is also out -- it's a nice car with a good following too but since "relatively" worry-free ownership is a top priority for us, we decided this is not the car for us.

The Altis will always have my affection, and it will still be our default car of choice. But we are also looking for a bit of a change, and upon reading up other threads here and reviews elsewhere, have decided to seriously look into the Civic 1.8S AT. I have scheduled a test drive to get a "feel" of the car. It's not within the inner core of my comfort zone like the Toyota Altis, but the H-brand feels like a calculated risk worth taking.

    What do you think?

some dealers are still selling old model MT altises at a discount, because the new model is coming out very soon. give 'em a call and see if the discount can convince you..

Oo nga Dr.d, my Toyota SA also offered it to me. But apart from being MT, the remaining units are black. Both a no-no for me.

Do take a test drive of the Honda and let that decide.

But per my experience, I'm still partial to the Corolla between the two current models. :D

Test drive went well, it felt right -- so we're going ahead with the purchase. The unit will be delivered early next week. Thanks for all your help guys! All your inputs helped us assess our considerations to arrive at the choice we finally made

You could at least mention what choice was made.

Right, sorry about that. It was in reference to my earlier post about scheduling a test drive for the Honda Civic 1.8S AT, and the eventual purchase.

Yup, compared to the Altis, Civics are a tight fit. Kahit nga yung trunk, again relative to the Altis eh maliit din.

We've had both and the Altis has a much bigger trunk than the Civic, but in terms of interior space, the FD/FB has noticeably better legroom than the outgoing Altis. Sasayad lang tuhod mo sa Civic kung nakasagad sa harap yung upuan. Front seats are adjustable and the steering wheel tilts and telescopes so it's hard to not find a comfortable driving position.
