I really want an SUV but I was only given 1M max budget by my family for my car. I would have to pay for the difference if I wanted a more expensive car so that meant I had to loan at least 300k if I wanted an SUV. I opted for a sedan, at least I have no debt to worry about. Minsan pag umuulan or pag may dinadaanan ako na baha, iniisip ko sana I loaned the 300k na lang. Pero pag naiisip ko na yung interest and monthly, I don't feel so bad anymore.

Where I work, some people change their rides every 2 years. I was thinking, ang dami naman pera nitong mga ito. Yung pala, they have the car financed & when the time comes that they sell it, buyer just pays them the down payment they paid for the car & assumes the balance.

Every 4 years in my case. So if I sell the car at 50-60% of its brand new price yun din ang down payment ko sa replacement nya. Halos parehas din kasi kung tutuusin, mabilis na ang depreciation after the first 3 years and you will lose almost the same amount of money (adjusted to inflation) if you keep the car as against buying a new one and paying amortization on it. The argument against this is of course is if you don't buy a new one then you can always save the money instead in the bank. But then as I said you lose later when you sell that car for only 20% of its original value. Since I meet my savings goal naman then I just allow myself this luxury of having a new car every 4 years.

The only time I put a 20% down is if it is a totally new purchase, like dati 2 cars lang nagdagdag ako ng isa. But now I am going to sell 2 and get 1, minimal money out na ko sa replacement car.

You should've took it. 300k for a 2-3 year loan is nothing.

That is why I always tell my younger colleagues not to be enticed with low DP.

Tapos pag nakita mo pag nag lunch skyflakes na lang kinakain tapos pati yosi nila hinihinge pa.

    well, i was warned.
so i settled for a used car.
but that car was a headache.., even as it did cost cheaper than a new car, considering the fixin's i spent on..
i should have gotten the VW instead.. at least that one, we could DIY..
    oh well...

Either way bro not a good practice.

I've got all my tips and tricks here how to loan a car, haggle up to detailing

the wise man will look for a house first, before he looks for a car.
if he is lucky (luck: what happens when preparation and foresight, meet opportunity), he won't need a car.

That's good kasi may kasamang sacrifice, papayat siya and he will look good with the car, as the car will complement him

Problem nowadays is we see a lot of beefed up picks-ups, fj cruisers, suvs, tapos pag bumaba ang owner, ang laki-laki ng tyan with machine washed clothes na sobrang luwag at losyang.

wtf hahaha! This is what I tell everyone. Washing machine destroys clothes talaga. Nawawala sa form at nahuhulog kulay.

Kapag sa Makati or BGC ang office kailangan mag budget na ng 3K to 4K para sa parking. Office namin is offering free parking pero dumadami nagkaroon ng new car dahil sa low DP mgmt is now thinking of pulling the plug for non-managers.

PS bank should dispose these repossed Everest fast kasi pag naabutan yan ng release ng new Forts/Monteros/ Everest, sigurado madami babagsak sa market ng used current gen Monteros and Forts.

Lugi sila dyan, baka ma bank-run sila ala lehman brothers

one possibility is... all those everests are/were loaned by just one entity.. fleet service siguro.. then something happened, and company decided to give up the vehicles in one fell swoop.

besides, those vehicles are so ... large... they easily stand out in the crowd of smaller vehicles.. baka naman they only look more plentiful than they actually were..

Kung minsan naawa ako sa mga kabataan ngaun trying to reach those big SUvs status tapos ang laki ng monthly. Grabe din ang inflation ngaun so i'm just wondering how they survive. Pero kelangan ma-boost sng self-esteem nila eh, dumandaan din naman tayo dyan but it's just too expensive and costly to further once self-esteem nowadays .

When I bought a car two years ago, I really took a lot of time thinking about this big purchase. Even my girlfriend was getting impatient and was complaining that I just wanted to visit all dealers but don't want to buy one. I waited and waited until I got a great deal. A 100k discount at 50% dp. I bought the car that I really loved. I always tell my friends and colleagues just to be patient. No need to buy a car for social status. Do not decide immediately. Do not be pressured by whatever the dealer says. Dont believe them if they say that the car that you are buying the last piece. It might be true but don't fall for that trick. Do not buy a car if you don't have a rainy day money. Haggle and haggle. A car purchase is a big spending.

Never ever think that the car that you are buying is an investment. Investment lang if manchichicks ka. Pero if you don't have money to treat her to a good dinner and night out, bale wala lang

I totally agree! May feeling of yabang o inggit factor kasi ibang tao. Sila ang madaling maging victims of the low dp schemes. Realizing it only when it's too late. When i am buying i always ask myself first it i really NEED it and most importantly can i AFFORD it. If i can answer yes to these two questions with my wife's approval then i go and buy it. Whether big or small purchase i make sure it's a NEED than a WANT.
