You don't have a choice bec. Toyota dealers no longer sell the old Vios, unless you want to get one from the second hand market.

Both Vios (old and new) still use the same 1NZ-FE and 2NZ-FE engines with mated with the same 4-speed automatic and 5 spd manual.

However, the new Vios is roomier esp. for rear passengers. It also passed ("good" mark) the frontal collision by the IIHS (in the US). It also passed the side collision only with side airbags and curtains installed (both of which are not currently available in the Philippines).

There's no mechanical differences, but the extra room and better instrumentation of the new Vios make it a no-brainer decision. The new one is much, much better.

In terms of looks? Alien insect or 1990's retro-Corolla? It's a matter of taste.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

new vios definitely. a little longer, a little wider, flat floor at the rear seats. engine bay seems kinda roomier too. kinda wished they had ULT seats with the base model though.

The new 1.5 versions have drop down rear seats, folding side mirrors, and is already considered world-class, being available in the US as the Yaris sedan...

Here in the Philippines, rear disc is for the 1.5G variants only. Entry variants 1.3E and 1.3J will have to settle for drums in the rear.

AFAIK, Toyota does not have a U.L.T.-like seat design (Honda pioneered it, AFAIK). Doesn't that suck? Toyota forces you to get the top-of-the-line variant, just to get this feature. At the very least, it should be in all 1.5 G variants.

For the Philippine market, the "drop down rear seats" is available only for the 1.5G leather upholstery A/T and not on the other 1.5G

definitely the new one. it is also known as the Toyota Belta in Japan, so it's basically engineered in Japan, unlike the prevoius one, which is designed in Thailand

    Hello Number001,

I just want to clarify, is the 60:40 Split with Armrest (available to all G variants of new vios) different with U.L.T? spare me for my ignorance

Regarding the center armrest for the rear passenger, AFAIK even the J variant has this. But the 60:40 fold-down rear seats is only for the G variant with leather upholstery.

Aesthetically, the All New Vios is definitely better. Sorta like a Camry's offspring after a one-night-stand with a ***y sedan.

The only thing I don't like about it are the large panel gaps especially around that hood. Geez!

    It is so not good

60:40 rear foldable rear seats. This feature is only available in the 1.5G leather variant. 1.5G m/t or 1.5 a/t with cloth upholstery, both do not have this feature.

Rear passengers center armrest w/ cup holders. This is available even on the 1.3 J variant.

Note: Upholstery color is color Black and not beige as depicted in the pics.
