    I'll go with the MX...

    nice interior
    more space
    1.6L engine
bigger dimension (I am not a subcompact sedan fan)

GLS and MX are only in automatic transmission or CVT

    GLX is manual transmission.

All (GL, GLX, GLS, MX) have the same 1.6 Li engine. The MX limited has a 1.8 li engine

The Mazda 3 is also a good choice and it fits right into your budget.

    Mazda3 V -Php 805,000
    Mazda3 S -Php 745,000
    Mazda3 Hatch - Php 780,000
. IMO, doesnt look as nice as its siblings.

A lot of things have been said regarding the Mazda3 so let me just focus on the downside. First, the engine of the 1.6li seem a bit underpowered and I heard that it might have less than ideal fuel consumption.

    Honda Jazz 1.5 VTEC a/t - Php 765,000 -

A bit overpriced and it might receive an update by the second half of the year. However, you will be surprised by the amount of utility this car has to offer with the fold-flat second row chairs. If my measurements were correct, it has almost the same or more cargo space as a CRV. It also has excellent fuel consumption rates.

PS: I would not get a Mitsubishi despite its WRC and Dakar (Pajero) roots, since it has a bad rep in Japan and suffers from a low resale value here.

Make sure you at least test drive the Hyundai Tucson. Price of a car you get an (mini)SUV.

Between a Lancer and a City, I'd go for the City. I'd be more concerned with fuel economy than a vehicle's size. But that's just me.

go for the lancer!! yan ang bago kong ride e! very satisfied ako, before, ganyan din situation my choices then was lancer gls, city 1.3 cvt, vios 1.5g or an altis j, sa lahat ng choices ang pinaka nagustuhan ko in terms of overall features and looks is yung lancer, sayang nga at nag-ipon sana pa kami ng konti para sa lancer mx (dvd with lcd screen hu + ipod nano) pero i am very satisfied with lancer i can tell you di ka mapapahiya. (pioneer hu mp3, 6 speakers, cvt matic, very spacious and elegant interior, lower price compared with altis, mz3 and civic!!!)

if you go for looks, lancer mx....

if you go for fuel economy, honda city/jazz cvt....

at this time when fuel prices is going up, you never go wrong with honda city/jazz cvt...

So the choice should be between lancer mx and civic instead of city to be in same the level. It seems that the budget is not the main concern since the choice is between a compact and a subcompact car.

Best way is to test drive both cars.

One major difference between the two cars is the seating comfort. The Honda Jazz/City seats are simply too uncomfortable for long drives. Its just too little cushioning. The Mitsu Lancer MX has better seats and rides better too.

I almost always go for the car with more metal...MX for me.

Btw, carb pa din ba ang mga GLX models?

At the price they are selling Lancers, good value for money na din. Though medyo makakabili ka na nga ng basic model ng Hyundai Tucson at that range.
