What's the advantage of buying compact vehicles?

We're chosing between Picanto, Spark and i10, pero nakita ko na konti lang difference nila sa Vios at Accent.

    Advantages:
    - Madali imaneuver at ipark
    - Less fuel consumption
    - Less space occupied
    - Mataas ang headroom
    - Cheap Price

The disadvantages (if you're ok with it)
    - Less legroom (mostly the case)
    - Engines are small displacement ones that they're not the ideal highway partner
    - Often times cheapy cheappy interior
    - Base model horror

Hope this helps, pero kung may pamilya ka or living with relatives (and usually travelling with them) these are not good choices.

The Vios and Accent at the same price as the top-of-the-line min-cars are completely unloaded, manual transmissions, bare interiors, wind-down windows (on the Vios, at least), steelies.

For similarly unloaded min-cars, you will still be paying 80k or so less. Bare Spark is 518k.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Actually, due to their smaller (and then lighter) bodies they often don't feel so underpowered at all.

If there's no need to move with more than 4 people and not too much luggage a compact car can be a reasonable option.

1.2 Minis are quicker than 1.3 liter subcompacts.

So you guys would rather get a compact vehicle than an entry level Vios and Accent?

I would since I encounter rather tight parking spaces everyday, especially if its a parallel parking spot. The Vios is a small car but I just noticed recently that its almost as long as a Toyota Fortuner which kinda makes it pretty hard to parallel park...

    vios/accent/city are sub-compacts. altis/civic/elantra/lancer are compact.

btt... for a daily commuter car, minicar would be fine. but for a family-person that needs to go to the grocery every now-and-then, sub-compact is a must, if not a compact one.

Kung ako, hanggang subcompact lang sa liit. The base models now have all power amenities and a decent sound system anyway, so its not really that bare. All we have to do is change the steel rims, and it doesn't cost that much to do so. IMHO, sub-subcompacts (pardon the term ) are good for single folks only.

for me i'd choose a sub-compact hatch as a daily drive than an suv.

    except maybe during rainy days.

sabagay, mas malaki nga ang trunk capacity ng isang sub-compact na honda city kesa sa kapatid niyang compact na honda civic.

Primary advantage of it is less fuel consumption and less emission, secondary is ease in maneuvering, the rest then are disavantages.

Subcompact cars are good as everyday car going office and going back home where you are always yourself but provided that large highways are not included in your everyday route and such route is quite short. It's good also as secondary car "coding car" or as school service.

In a crash, mass will always be your friend. True, the Ford F150 crumples like an accordion in a fixed barrier crash test but crash into one while driving your micro car and the Ford will eat it for lunch.

It always pays to put the most metal between you and the next guy.

I also drive a compact but I've been crashed into while driving full sized vehicles and I believe I would have been worse off if the crash had happened while I was driving the compact.

So I'd still pick the Accent or Vios sized vehicle or step up the (even the basic) Corolla or Civic. Not sure about the availability of ABS and SRS on those models but even my full size car doesn't have 'em so it's nothing new for me.
