If I'll be the one who will buy a car, I'll definitely choose the honda civic over the toyota corolla because its body is more susceptible to beautification purposes. the civic, for instance, can be converted to look like a civic sir. I just don't know about the fuel consumption of the civic. But if you like the gli more, I can say that its fuel consumption is superb because our family had a corolla before.
id say civic. we used to own a 93 corola gli. now my wife has a 96 civic vti. comparing the two, id say sobrang boring ng corola. masikip pa sa loob (backseat). im 5'10. when im driving the corolla before kawawa un mga pasahero ko sa likod. pero if im driving the civic, comportable un mga passengers ko sa likod. pyesa id say even... mas mahal konte ang civic parts pero it doesnt mean mahal nga ito. abot kaya paren. lalo na daming surplus parts or taiwan parts. or even oem parts.
Some inputs:
1. performance: low rpm - Gli, high rpm - Vti
2. fuel consumption: Gli
3. style: same (facelift Gli model na, while pre-facelift Vti model)
4. safety: Gli - I know the '96 Gli has driver airbags na. Maybe ABS na rin ata though not sure. While the Vti has no airbags or ABS.
5. rust resistance: Gli. '96 Vti have also shown rusting problems specifically at the rooftop.
6. maintenance cost: Gli
7. interior space: Vti
8. riding comfort: Vti
9. reliability: same
10. resale value: same
Good luck in your selection.![]()
umm bulutong on ek?? hmmm... ive seen some cases na meron yung 96-98 models pero hindi kasing dalas or prone as the eg.
normal na sakit ng ek:
1. stabilizer link
2. power window stuck up
3. water getting inside the trunk
4. may binubuga na foam like stuff sa aircon from time to time
eto lang maalala ko for now, pero madali lang sol ng mga yan:
1. buy the 555 brand suspension parts
2. wd40
3. hanapin kung saan galing (usually sa antenna or sa tail light), seal it
4. from time to time get a vacuum and full blast the blower to take them out
1. honda
2. toyota
3. honda
4. honda
go for honda...more pogi points and sporty even konting mods lang maporma na.
Not sure if this question has been already addressed somewhere in the forum...
Anyways, comparing 96 civic vs 96 corolla gli how is their ECU positions/placement? Im thinking if both cars go through a flooded road (at least a passable one,, with occassional splash/wave due to passing trucks/bigger cars).
Itong 2 rin kasi ang options ko for a used car, pero iniisip ko kasi yung resistance sa flood since madalas kahit konting ulan, bigla nagbabaha sa Aguinaldo Hiway.
I have owned both cars, the Corolla Gli stayed with me for 2 years, then upgraded to the Civic Vti.
1. Performance - Civic takes my vote. Easy to handle and fun to drive.
2. Fuel Consumption - a slight advantage to the Civic Vti.
3. Style - Both cars are good after installing the proper kits. For me the Civic still is more "porma" than the Gli.
4. Opinion - Depends on what you want for a ride. If I were to comment the Civic would be a better car, but the parts and maintenance the gli would have the advantage.
Good luck on your selection.
With regards to the rust or "bulutong" on the roof of Honda Vti's, mine has stayed with me for almost 9 years, and nothing like this occurred on the roof of my ride.
