I would like to request the opinions of fellow tsikoteers.
A friend of mine is planning to buy a second hand compact SUV. He can't decide which one to get.

    Which do you prefer?
    2003 Honda CRV A/T mileage: 8,573 Kms. Price: P584,000
    or
    2005 Nissan Xtrail A/T mileage: 34,065 Kms. Price: 711, 000

His budget is within the price of both SUVs.

What are the pros and cons of each?

    Thank you in advance...

Mas may dating ang X-Trail (for me), but the CR-V isn't a bad vehicle at all, medyo matakaw lang sa gas (although the X-Trail isn't much better).

Mas maganda yung interior fit and finish at mga upuan sa CR-V. Not saying the X-Trail is bad, but there's a lot of plastic to get scratched. But the flooring of the X-Trail is practical if you do a lot of beach trips or hauling.

But the price of the 03 CR-V he's looking at is pretty good. Kung hindi tampered ang odo, okay na yun. Just change those stock tires... medyo madulas.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Pn any normal circumstance i'd take the x-trail. Pero mukha atang daily driver yung xtrail eh compared to the crv, based on mileage. Kaya crv nlang ako. Cheaper, less wear and tear.

Ditto. All things being equal, not only does the CRV have less mileage, it's cheaper too.

both vehicles are very nice indeed. if space is a consideration, go for the cr-v. tsaka with that mileage.... this is a no brainer.... go for the cr-v. hanep yung mileage. tsaka malakas ata sa gas ang x-trail eh. :D

Ayaw mo bang mag diesel SUVs, xtrail and CRV nowadays are not practical because of high prices of gas. Suggestion lang.

yup, serious po yung mileage ng CRV. both vehicles are bank repossessed items so i guess the mileage are for real and not calibrated. and i dont think the bank itself would tinker with the odometer just to be able to sell these vehicles. my friend still cant decide which one to get..

What if the first owner tampered the ODO already? ;) malalaman ba pag ginalaw na yung ODO? alam ko kahit digital nauurong na rin eh. Medyo matakaw sa gas ang crv, matagtag din, pero malakas makina. Mas maganda ride sa xtrail compare to crv. Pero good buy na yung crv na 584k, i think.

    HI GUYS!

    My 1st post. nice forum....

Well for me both are good suvs..

The mileage of the x-trail is not that quite high but i heard that x-trail will discontinue this year and a new design will be release soon. For the coming future they might encounter a hard time for the parts....

The CRV has a very low mileage for his age so i think that's the best choice

BUT still your friend has to choose which is the perfect ride for him..

So 2007 is the last year for the current X-Trail. And now, this fact has been confirmed after Nissan released its new compact crossover SUV namely the Nissan Rogue. Powered by a 170 HP, 2.4l engine, the Rogue will surprisingly have less grunt than the outgoing 180HP, 2.5l X-Trail. You never know what Nissan will do for the Middle East market. Either they'll discontinue the X-Trail and bring the Rogue. Or they might not bring the Rogue here and give us an all new redesigned X-Trail. Looks nice but Nissan loves to mess up most clean designs. I like it from the rear but the front is O K. Interior is an improvement with two-toned fabric seats.

Correction, though. Although the X-Trail 2.5 is claimed to have 180hp, those are the original pre-production figures claimed by Nissan.

Like Toyota, they haven't downgraded their local power figures to meet the new SAE standards. It's likely the X-Trail only makes 165 hp.

That Rogue looks like a beaut, though.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
