I'm planning to purchase a car for my wife on september.

May nabibili na ba na GPS/DVD HU for the new 3gen vios... how much?

    Any comments...

Meron naman mabibili basta kaya 2din head unit. If I were in your shoes, ill fight for the vios since it's bigger overall and I like Toyota in general. Ok din Mirage but it's smaller and wala masyado space sa trunk.

Vios. Only reason id pick a mirage over it is budget.

the mirage is smaller, but is more loaded and has better consumption. and its brand new.
although for me, the durability of toyota would tell that the vios would be a better choice.
    besides, may trunk space sya.

Kung si misis gagamit I would let her decide para walang sisihan.

mirage is OK in terms of FC space etc...(as what you mentioned) yung current CVT models lang ang may issue sa starter pero lahat naman na naka encounter ay pinapalitan. aside from the starter issue panalo ka sa mirage kung daily drive lang ang purpose though you can use it for out of town trips. may palabas na mirage this coming sept yung sedan model aside from the current hatchback.

What about on the NEW hyundai accent? They changed their engine to Kappa dual CVT engine coupled in 6-speed transmission. Is this ok?

I would definitely get the Vios, I really trust Toyota plus the new Vios is gorgeous. It's bigger than a mirage pa.

I've just purchased my vios 3 weeks ago, i also try and browse from mitsubishi i've seen the gls model and its loaded and more cheaper, but its a little bit smaller, and after asking for suggestion from people, most of them recommend me to go with vios, if i were you according to some comments let your wife to decide so nobody to blame in the future.

I would definitely go for the Vios. I have a Mirage GLS CVT. Initial ownership is quite a nightmare. Although OK na kotse ko, nakakapika lang sa simula knowing you bought a brand new 'problem'. Now, I have to keep my car casa-maintained cos they said pag bumalik daw yung sakit ng oto at hindi casa maintained, they won't be honoring any of my claims. Di ba bullsh!t?

Isa pa, the refinement of Vios is head and shoulders above the Mirage. Yung wiper arm kitang kita malakas mag vibrate. Plus the ride of the Vios is better although the Mirage is good naman. Mas OK lang talaga Vios.

In fairness to the Mirage, it is really fuel efficient naman talaga and got punch when you need it and feature packed.

    Goodluck.

That is because its a 3 banger. 3 bangers are terribly unbanlanced engines. Manufacturers would mask this deficiency by installing a myriad of balance shafts, counter weights, extra heavy flywheels, etc.

    But still ..........

Sorry to burst the Mirage bubble, I think its a great car. If only MMC shoved a proper 4 banger in there.

Any odd cylindered engine (3 & 5cyls) actually. It is a matter of tuning and refining lang siguro. Volvo 5 cyl engines are kinda smooth (based on an 06 S60 2.0T experience). They say the 1.0L Ecoboost 3 cyl is also smooth and vibration-free. But the Mirage's engine is left that way siguro to keep the cost low.

5 bangers would be smoother because of bulk/metal mass. Vis-a-vis, technically, one cannot design a 3 cylinder engine using 5 cylinder technology (general) di ba? The manufacturers can only do so much in a 3 banger scenario under the "controlled conditions" of an R&D facility.

But its different in real world conditions.

That's because according to Ford, they deliberately unbalanced the flywheel to offset the shaking forces commonly associated with 3-cylinder engines.

It's an almost problem free car.

I would only feel vibration in our Vios when its time to clean the MAF and the TB. Otherwise, its just gas and go.

It's true nga naman wala kong na feel while on d road from NAIA heading home, nasa front passenger side pa nga ang pwesto ko.
