    On a 300K budget,

    • Anu ba best na mabibili kong used Getz and used Jazz?
    • Also, what do you think is the better buy sa dalawa?

So far ang nakikita ko ay usually as young as 2 years old Getz 1.1 MT with as low as 20Tkm odo. and for Jazz (local), 2005 aroun 60Tkm odo. Though I am not sure if these are the best offers na at this price range.

I'd get the newest Jazz (not converted Fit) for the budget. Manual transmission models are very fun, practical, fairly safe (2004 specific models are dual airbags and ABS equipped, deleted upon the launch of the 1.5 VTEC variant in late 05) and efficient.

Thanks Basti. I did not know this. In case id opt for a Jazz, I'll definitely take this tip.

    Please keep the tips coming.

For you guys who choose nman the Getz, which variant to choose ba? A young car na 1.1 MT ( I believe ito lang ang ni-release na variant sa mga bago) or an older car na 1.4 AT / 1.5 CRDI?

The Getz CRDi flies and is very fuel efficient (I drive an Accent CRDi of same engine) but be wary of how the former owner took care of the CRDi unit's engine. Turbo problems might arise if it is improperly used (no warm up/cool down prior and after trips), black smoke emitting <-- if PMS are not met as scheduled etc.

seriously, very fuel efficient, low in maintenance, sarap pa i city driving.

If it's a 1.3 MT Jazz, yes. CVT... no.

Getz 1.1 is probably the best deal of the Getz lot. Economical, simple to maintain. Like it better than the 1.4

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Thanks renzo_d10 (is that really you on your DP?!), basti08, 1d4lv, and the rest for your inputs. so the Getz CRDi (if checked thouroughly to be working fine) is a good contender.

Hi niky, what do you say about that?

The new-er 1.1 MTs are easy-er to find as they abound in online sites. Do you think one should bother really looking for that CRDi variant?

Ah, that's gotta be my girlfriend.

No, it's not just a good contender, it's a very good contender. The Accent CRDi itself is already exciting, imagine how much more exciting it can be when the engine in slapped on a much smaller & lighter car. It's a pocket rocket.

Yes, CRDi's are worth the search. Just make sure that things are doing well on its engine. Turbos can be expensive to replace/fix.

You should take note though that maintenance is higher on CRDi's than on gasoline engines. The difference shouldn't be that surprising, though.

Off topic: Julia Barreto ata yan Renzo. :D

On topic: Thanks for that info. so CRDi shall be really considered then. I just need a hyundai-'expert' mechanic to have the unit checked. The Accent CRDi sounds cool, too, but I am really eyeing only hatch backs. I need the space at the back every now and then.

Fronte maintains my Accent CRDi well without breaking my budget. Hindi naman ganon kalaki ang premium ng pag maintain sa diesel over the gas variant. I can attest to that.

Just make sure the Jazz you get is local. As the LTO is floating the news that it will not re-register Port Irene imports with the finalization of EO156, buying an import is a huge risk.

The Getz 1.1 has the least to go wrong with it amongst the Getzes. If you go for the CRDI, make sure to check the condition of the unit. Engine mounts (an issue with this particular engine-chassis combo), turbos (make sure it boosts!) and EGR (check for black smoke) should be your primary areas of investigation.

I drove a Getz 1.5 CRDI and I wasn't that impressed. I also drove a Getz 1.1, and economy was not much worse than the CRDI, and it felt lighter and easier to drive (lot less power, obviously).

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
