Need help on deciding which car to buy. Nasama yung 2nd Hand FD kasi may mga nakikita akong 2nd Hand na 600k - 650k lang. Resale value kasi ng Civic eh sigurado (sigurado nga ba?) mas mataas parin kesa sa City? If you have any other cars to suggest (Altis?), it will be greatly appreciated. Max budget would be about 700k - 750k. TIA!

    Based on your 700K budget:

    City 1.3 S MT PHP 716,000.00
    City 1.3 S AT PHP 756,000.00
    City 1.5 E AT PHP 806,000.00

    Jazz 1.3 S MT PHP 712,000.00*
    Jazz 1.3 S AT PHP 752,000.00 *
    Jazz 1.5 V AT PHP 802,000.00 *

    COROLLA ALTIS 1.6 E M/T Php774,000.00
    COROLLA ALTIS 1.6 G M/T Php823,000.00

Among the three choices, I'll got for the Corolla E M/T. Subcompacts (Jazz, City, Vios) prices are getting too close to the more bang for the buck in terms of pound per metal, compacts (Civic, Corolla, Lancer). Corolla has a bigger engine, passenger cabin/compartment, and trunk.

*reflects 5,000 price increase compared to prices last Nov 2008. There are rumors of further price increase by last week of May.

To add further to your choice:

    Hyundai Accent GL 1.5 M/T (w/power window) - Php 700,000.00

If you are into diesels, then this is another vehicle to consider. Not so sure about the maintenance costs, as it is usually higher than gas vehicles.

Get a 2nd Hand Civic FD, let it be certified by your CASA.
This is still under warranty so you're still covered.

Based on my driving experience (Civic VTIS-Yaris and now Fortuner) Its better and more comfortable to drive a Civic sized car compared to small cars.

As a general rule, try to go for brand new if possible. a 2nd hand 2006 Civic is on its way out of warranty anyway (if not expired already). Unless you know the person selling you the car, its not worth the risks.
