As long as you drive european cars. For sure, 50-50 ka na may masisira sa mga out of town trips...

Usual problems encountered by M-Benz, BMW, AUDI, VW, VOLVO owners:

    1) alternator not charging
    2) No aircon
    3) overheat
    4) Broken drive belts, timing belts
    5) Palyado and dying engine
    6) Unusual new noises on the highway
    7) Burning smell somewhere
    8) Fuel pump problems
    9) Engine not starting

    I own a 260e.

#1 just happened recently. I had my alternator replaced. Haay gastos.
#2 medyo nangyayari na. Mahina aircon hehe
#3 happened once only. But it was because of a leak sa hose going to the heater. Madali ko naman naayos.
#4 never pa naman. But I always have a spare belt sa trunk
#5 has been a problem until recently. Ang dami namin suspetsa (clogged fuel system, fuel pump relay etc) so naka-ilang balik din sa talyer. Finally, nung pinalitan yung high tension wires, for some reason ok na siya. Salamat sa Diyos.
#8 is related to my #5 problem
#9 is related to my #1 problem. Although napansin ko, every morning when I start the engine, normal cranking siya pero hirap ng kaunti mag-start, unlike before na one click lang.

    Magastos talaga mag-maintain ng benz.

Hehe. The important thing is that a BENZ, specially a W124, would always have parts available as compared to another car with the same year model na probably junk na ngayon..

Mercedes Benz cars have always been the best luxury car brand. Specially in the Philippines..

well, mas luxurious ang MB. mas maporma lang ang BMW. as for the ride, i think mas maganda ride ng MB. we have a 95 c220. sarap upuan and i-drive.

as for the mechanic, meron malapit dito sa amin na MB specialist.

    The older E34 525i is the one with a 192 hp 2.5 liter inline-6.
    The newer E39 523i 2.5 with a 170 hp 2.5 liter inline-6 is actually a lower model than the E34 525i.
    The E34 525i was replaced by the E39 528i with a 193 hp 2.8 liter inline-6.

    When the E39 was facelifted, the 170hp 523i 2.5 became a 525i and got a stronger 192hp 2.5 liter inline-6 again.

BMWs are a good alternative to the MB especially with their good(or even better) track record.
Isn't there a place along Santolan that repairs Euro cars (a few meters away from Speedy Fix)? I've seen some old BMWs, Benzes and even an old Rolls Royce being serviced there.

I think you are referring to the shop of Joe Reyes. SEYER for short..

Hahah. no offense to the loyal customers of joe... There are a lot of better repairshops out there to get your money.. I was one of the suckers there before I learned how to become a mechanic.

The 523i 2.5 was called a 523i because its 2.5 was detuned to produce the same power and fuel economy as that of a 2.3 liter engine.
It was soon replaced by an updated 2.5 liter inline-6, so with the power gain, it became a 525i again.

You get more standard features with the E39 and performance is almost the same.

    E34 525i
    2.5 liter DOHC inline-6
    Max Power: 192 hp * 5900 rpm
    Max Torque: 250 Nm * 4200 rpm
    0-100 km/h in 8.6 sec
    Top Speed: 230 Km/h

    E39 523i
    2.5 liter DOHC inline-6
    Max Power: 170 hp * 5500 rpm
    Max Torque: 245 Nm * 3950 rpm
    0-100 km/h in 8.5 sec
    Top Speed: 228 Km/h
