Remapping of the ecu increases power a lot. I can attest to that. But it also significantly decreases the component lifespan of the engine. There are trade offs. More power means More boost = more heat and more stress which the manufacturers didnt intend for those component parts.

This engine was meant to last hundreds of thousands of kilometers at the stock tune. As long as you know the compromises and are okay with the decreased longevity then its okay. I have chipped many cars and some have had engine light warning flashes on the dashboard after a few months.

Careful ... the automatic transmission might not be able to handle to additional torque ...

Mostly the parts inside and around the engine that relates to power ... it's like giving a person an injection of adrenaline ... he may run faster and longer, jump higher, more strength ... but after the rush ... he will be feeling all sorts of pain in the joints, muscles, etc ...

if pajero bk could speak, it would say: "why the heck would you inject me with adrenaline when i wasn't built for speed? i carry you to work safely, i carry your children to school safely, i carry you and your family to the mall or to the beach or to wherever you want me to bring them safely. why? do you want me to race with those prados, explorers, fortuners, etc. while you, your children, your family, your in-laws on-board in your kind of roads and in your kind of traffic? if you love speed, you bought the wrong car. try a chiron or a veyron or a pagani or a centenario."

Thanks for the heads-up guys, will just stick to wheel/tire upgrade for now, hehe. Just felt excited with the 192hp the VGT brought to the 3.2 4M41 engine.

Wow, that's too anaemic for such a big platform! Even worse since it is 4WD.

Is this correct? So meaning the current Pajero BK has better engine specs than the more expensive current Prado?

No. The current local Prado gas comes with a 4.0 V6 engine, shared with the FJ.

It's also available with a 3.0 D4D. The facelifted 2018 version will come with the Fortuner's new 2.8 D4D engine.

The Prado diesel has always shared the same engine as the Fortuner. There was even a time that the Prado was using the older 131 hp 1KZ engine while the Fort had the updated 160 hp 1KD engine. The Prado was updated only in 2006 to carry the same 1KD as the Fortuner, which the Prado still used until 2017. Only with the facelifted Prado did they update to the newer 1GD engine.

paper specs lang yan, a manufacturer can indicate a higher power/torque ratings to make it appealing to consumers, for marketing purposes. for torque, gear ratios will give you indication kung anong lakas ng hatak niyan. as an example, my montero gtv base sa specs nasa 178hp. sa actual dyno run nasa 156whp lang. you may say its wheel hp yung sa dyno but at least the manufacturer should have indicated o put a note na yung value nila is engine hp o bhp. you ask a casa technician and they don't even have a clue. the upgraded pajero gtv now says nasa 198hp, pero kapag sa dyno yan, expect the value to be 10-20% less.

Tama lang naman po ata yung 178hp ng monty. Lahat naman po ata ng manufacturer ay hindi inaadvertise ang wheel hp?
