    for weekends, it will be a low mileage car and because of this i would get the xpander.

    the breakeven point of gas vs diesel is around 15000km per year from my calculations . if you do over 20,000km a year a diesel would be cheaper.

    Since you shortlisted the the montero, then go for it. It has better road presence and pretty much tested in the Philippine environment.
    Lam mo naman sa Pinas kapag weekend, labasan ng mga premium vehicles. Mas may respeto din sa kalsada kung SUV ang dala mo compared to an AUV/MPV.

    Haha. Same, mas cool ang SUV vs MPV pero I'd rather drive a modernly equipped matic mpv rather that a barebones manual suv.
