The 3.0-litre Forty's 1KD-FTV is not designed to be an ultimate revver but rather as a well-packaged engine that caters very broadly all throughout its useable powerband even from a low rev of 1400 rpm. It's already giving out a meaty 343 Nm of torque even when it's only doing a total of 700 times per minute pressure combustion at 1400 rpm engine-radial speed (rpm) since it's a 4-stroke diesel engine ---- i.e. a cycle of 1 pressure combustion for every two-revolution of the crank. Pressure combustion is in sequence for each of the 4-cylinders that are connected in 90-degree throws along the crank.

The GTV Monty is NEVER EVER faster at all than the 3.0-litre Forty even when the latter is just a 4-speed tranny. Kindly see below sir.

Mas maganda pa rin sir ang gear ratios/ spacings ng 3.0-litre Forty kaysa Monty GTV, and it is faster. This is an excerpt on what i have posted at Toyota Forum in one of the past threads thereat. Hey, you were there nga pala sir! Haha! ;)

Now if you gentlemen are still in doubt, kindly go to the Engine and Fuel System Talk and click onto the last page of the sticky thread dedicated to Racechip Pro. There's a fine gentleman out there with a modded GTV Montysport and he stated in there that he's making 100 kph at 2000 rpm.
    http://tsikot.com/forums/engine-fuel...05/index9.html

Ngunit sa dalawang yan mas mabilis pa rin at low-revving ang 2.2-litre Santa Fe R-eVGT sa dalawa. At 2000 rpm the 4x2 Fe is speeding 112 kph, while the 4x4 is speeding at 112.3 kph. In fact it is running 190 kph even when it's only revving 3392 rpm.

EEW!!!

Good thing sir, you posted here as an owner of these two brands, except that you're mentioning here the bigger-bore 3.2-litre Strada/ Monty. That one is durable for it is running in timing gear-and-chain just like the Isuzu engines. Also, the 3.2-litre 4M41 with VGT is a different story, it's far superior in power department than the standard and current Philippine-issue 4M41.

Malayo talaga sa power at lalo na sa torque ang 3.2-litre Mitsubishi 4M41 Di-D standard sa 3.0-litre Toyota 1KD-FTV D4-D. If you look into the chassis-dyno links under the Unichip product of Speedlab Racing website, the stock (wheel) torque of the 3.2-litre Strada Di-D shown in there was about 313 Nm at 3000 rpm (just convert 231.1 lb-force foot to Nm), which is lesser than the published 343 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. The 3.0-litre Hilux D4-D, on the other hand, was making a stock (wheel) torque of 382.9 Nm at 2500 rpm (greater than the paper spec of 343 Nm). All these were taken as baseline prior to Unichip installations on both pickups.

You may browse thru this link and see the above-mentioned subject concerned:

Yung nakakafrustrate sa ilan sa mga dyno sheets na inupload ng Speedlab sa mga Unichip applications is that yung iba hindi nirecord and buong torque plateau from 0rpm to say... 4000rpm. Like in the case of the 4M41 wherein nagstart ang recording sa 3000rpm which is past the sweet spot already at siguro may malaking torque drop na yan at that rpm. At yung Fortuner nasa 2500rpm palang, which is within the sweet spot of the engine. I was wondering what the torque of the 4M41 is at rpm levels of around 1500-2500rpm more or less. Siguro mataas taas din yan, considering that the Pajero's 4M41 is rated at 373Nm of torque at 2000rpm.

Oh and by the way, did you see my post regarding the Santa Fe 6MT? What do you think?

Yung main post ko tungkol sa torque plateau ng Montero at Fortuner, which is not OT IMO.

Aside from the interior leather, there's nothing on the GTV that you'll miss when going for the 4x2. Of course, the leather makes the GTV feel all the more special.

Even with the Fort's improved ride (marginally), it's no patch on the Montero on interior appointments and ride comfort. Still steers better, if that's a selling point for you.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Plus turning radius seems like better for the Monty. Good for tight places in Pasig/Pasay! :naughty:

i can relate to this first hand

much easier to park the monty in a tight basement parking complex

when exiting the basement and going to the driveway, our neighbor's fortuner has to back up and then move forward again

in the monty, it's one single turn from the basement exit to the driveway

Some people make visiting this forum not as enticing as before. Preaching their gospel on almost every thread that mentions their beloved cars.

Some people just can't accept facts that's why they get too anecdotal about their experiences

FACT 1: Different folks = different strokes

Call it coincidence Walter? Here's some facts why TOYOTA ;)

FACT 2: TOYOTA is the world's top carmaker in global brand valuation
Toyota is top carmarker in global brand value evaluation - News | TopGear.com.ph

FACT 3: The so-called vaunted Mitsubishi is even a neverheard in the Top 100 best global brands

FACT 4: Only shows that the biggest chunk of car buyers in the world are owning TOYOTAS ;)

Hyundai is still closely tied with Mitsubishi. Maybe that's the reason why I still refuse to buy a Hyundai
