2007 1.6 mitsubishi lancers

im thinking of buying a new lancer in a few weeks from now.. i need help on whether ill buy or not. could you guys present me of the pros and cons of this car?

if the over all verdict is leaning towards the con side.. could you guys suggest of an alternative? criteria is up to 1.6 engine lang, 700-800K 900K ultimate margin, reasonable maintenance, good performance, porma, and fuel efficiency as i will be driving long. im out of towner, mla-lag-bat areas. pls wag vios, d ko gusto ung nasa gitna yung gauges ko. and one more thing, due na kasi ung lancer for a new model next year e, may 2008 lancer na din na irrelease or na release na tlaga... im just not sure if they will release the same model here too...

i also noticed that lancer is not popular in the site... mejo disconnected ako from automotive issues and developments kc over the years e, may i ask why this is? dahil ba ito sa mga issues ng MMC? ung may recall thing? or talaga lang na pangit ung lancer ngayon? kahit sa road pansin ko d masyado marami lancer e, not so popular because of the value cars like vios, getz, picanto, etc...

ayaw mo ng honda civic? medyo malaki pala budget mo e, makakakuha kana ng 1.8 for just 700K(i think),
nasabi ko lang siguro ito kasi na test drive ko na yun pati matipid siya sa gas compared sa mazda 3

by the way may lancer ako kaso 97 pa ang cons ko lang e malakas siya kumain ng gas as in todo! pros ang availability ng parts pati mura ito compared sa iba

pero ang suggestion ko e magtest drive ka muna kung ano gusto mo at wag ka munang magcenter sa 1 kotse lang, maraming maganda diyan pati lahat naman ng kotse naluluma e, bali ung 2008 na lancer maganda ngayon pero sa matagal na panahon mga 2010 may bago nanamang design, bale kung makakaantay ka di ok just my opinion HTH

Pros:

1. CVT gearbox, a first in the 1.6 segment, eliminates shift shock because it has no gears to change to and from, also more efficient than regular 4-speed automatic.

Cons

1. Engine lacks technology of VTEC, VVTi, and to a smaller degree, Nissan's so-called VTC. Power is also down to 110 PS compared to 124 of the cyclone engine present in the previous model Lancer - a big turn-off for me. Fair enough, it's slower than its leading competitors.

2. Overall reliability still isn't something to be very confident about, unlike Toyota and Honda. It may be an improvement over past Lancers, but only time will tell how it will hold up to the conditions.




About an all-new model, the Lancer should be replaced in less than a year, well, at least in better countries. Remember that this particular model came quite late, almost a year after the VTEC3 Civic and VVTi Altis were launched. So far, only the new Civic was brought here, and plans for a Corolla/Altis successor have yet an unknown date. If you're patient enough, it would pay off by waiting for other new models. If you've read the Lemon Civic thread, it's certainly better to hang on and anticipate the Corolla and Lancer, as they can be better cars.

i'll just post on my current experience with my lancer para po may idea po kayo.

na-attract po ako sa mitsu dahil sa price package nya po compared with other brands. classy interior like what sir squala said, as well as good oem sound system (pioneer hu(wav/mp3/wma) and speakers), tunog oem crv if you ask me. maraming freebies (or dahil galante sales agent namin).

sa seats, maluwang po sya both sa harap and likod, maluwang po yung leg-room at head-room sa likod even sa mga matangkad.

aircon, malamig naman po, even ngayong summer number2 (up to 4) pa lang ang switch ko pag tanghali, hindi pa po todo thermostat ko nun.

in terms of performance, panalo naman po invecs-iii (esp. po yung sport mode) kaya pa rin sumabay sa mga current pocket rockets ngayon. mejo malakas nga lang po sa gas yung sports mode, pero matipid naman po yung normal drive mode po nya. may manual-shift mode din po sya kaya pwede rin pong manual.

aftersales and maintenance, ok naman po sya and wala naman pong mga sakit na naglalabasan, maganda naman po ang service ng casa (commonwealth diamond)

so far, i'm very satisfied naman po sa investment ko.

Nice leather seats at 800k.

I have the version that has the VCD player. Great sounds

I can go like 350km city driving w/ 1 full tank. 450km highway w/ 1 full tank.
1 tank = 40 liters.
Doors inde tunog lata. Solid ba.
Space is good, back and front. Kasya normal bodied males 4 sa likod.

Cons,
Tagtag ng ride dahil sports tuned suspension combined w/ the low profile tires. NCT3 pa. :D
Since white ang leather...eventually after 2 years..greyish na sya...pa detail mo na lng though, puputi muli

I think the current Lancer is an ok car naman overall just like most Japanese compact sedans.

But since dealers are giving away so many incentives to sell the car, this tells you something also. Meaning, if you plan to use it for a long time, then I guess its ok to go ahead. But if tipong sawa ka after 3-4 years, expect a huge hit in selling the car.

as for ride comfort it is very comfortable.

kng sinisipag ka mag sportronic function ka nlng pra manual shifting pro bihira ko lng gngmit un...
fuel consumption pinakworst na 9 km/ltr pinakamatipid 14 km/ltr average consumtion is about 10-12km/ltr
so far i'm very satisfied that I bought this car ung kaibgan ko na bmli ng l8est na civic na-astigan sa dvd player at lcd nung lancer ko, civic kc wla nun hehehhe(abot tenga ngiti ko nun snbi nya skn un hehehe)
plan to add accessories to my lancer ung front and rear chin na k2lad sana sa gt mern na kc side skirt ung mx eh nghahanap nga lng ako 2loy ngaun ng dealer na mern stock kc sa citimotors d2 sa Las Pinas ala eheheh.. anyway asteeg lancer its worthy to buy

could you guys shed some light on this? mejo natatakot nako kc bumili ng lancer ngayon e. of all the bad things ive heard about mitsubishi, i dunno which of them are true or false. and panay sabi sakin mag honda na lng kung mataas daw ung budget ko e.

actually ok lang sana sakin mag antay till next year for the new lancer... but then, bumibigay na ung current car ko e... lumuluwa na ng oil so i need to change na desperately... as in this year na. so given the situation, mas gusto ko sana lancer pero palaos na ung design (its like buying the newest celphone today with the next newer ones available tomorrow) and so i am forced to chase the best value for money. e ung honda new release yan this year lang against the lancer na mapapalitan na possibly next year.

thanks for the ideas guys... btw, d ba ung tank capacity ng lancer e 50L? its not 40L. also ive found out that the lancer is really a sucker for gas... it can go as bad as 6km to the liter. what i love about the lancer though is the invecs 3 sportronic, un lang... im sad... i would've love to get the lancer pero parang mas ok kung honda nalng e. im after kc sa fuel efficiency <- high mileage to the liter, porma, and uniqueness <- d ung lahat nalng meron like the altis and vios... nkakaturn off for me.. everywhere you look altis and vios. i cant blame them though... very efficient kc and murang maintenance and aftersales.

im being pulled towards the honda. anyway i still have a few weeks to decide. april pa naman ako bibili. i still have a chance to test drive the lancer glx against the mx. and the honda 1.8 series m/t.

the 2007 lancer offers a lot of improvement from the lancer that i have.... hehehehe.

improvements include, souped-up interior. the 2.0 variant even has an OEM momo steering wheel installed. setup na rin yung audio/video nya.

pros:

a) feeling naka EVO VIII ka.
b) ganda pormahan
c) fuel consumption is reasonble. you can squeeze out at most 9 km/l.
d) 15" na ang stock mags nya. pero still, bakit kaya naka NCT3 ito? hindi man lang ginawang NCT5.
e) daming parts available. original parts can be easily supplied by El Dorado. replacement parts, nagkalat.
f) sarap pormahan. pero if i were you, i will keep it stock.
g) good after sales service (Diamond Motors/Citimotors)


cons:

a) a little bit underpowered compared to the civic. although the CVT is very smooth and reliable.
b) bakit nga ba naka NCT3 yung default neto?
c) i really don't know if the suspension issues found in older lancers (2000-2002) have been addressed already. mabilis kasing kumalampag ang ilalim.
d) ambilis bumaba ng resale value compared to Toyotas and Civics.

El Dorado is a place selling OEM Mitsu parts, not just lancers but the entire Mitsu line-up.

Afaik, they have shops somewhere in Pasay and in Festival Mall, Alabang.

grabe talga ang pull ng honda sa tao ngaun. may honda fever... its not the issue of the msrp kc e. i can get the honda... but its the matter of decision kc.. and sa aftersales. d ba malaki ang maintenance sa honda.. lagi dapat casa, and they don't charge meagerly!

hehehe. yung NCT3/NCT5 eh variant ng goodyear tires. yung NCT3 eh sobrang ingay nung gomang yun tapos ang bilis pang bumukol ng sidewalls.

superbrand ang honda eh...kaya ang lakas ng hatak sa tao.

maintenance wise, although slightly higher ang honda, reasonable din naman ang cost. tsaka, even though you get a lancer, up to 10k PM mo, casa pa rin naman eh. after that, pwede na sa labas.

actually sir, pinalitan na po ngayon yung oem tires sa mga bagong batch, kasi po yung akin nct-5 na po ang gamit. mejo di po kasi ganun kaganda ang feedback regarding nct-3.

DI naman po mahirap maintain ang honda cars, sabi ng marami mahirap daw kasi sa casa mo lang ipapagawa, di naman totoo kasi pwede ka naman bumili ng orig parts sa casa tapos ipakabit mo sa kilala mo na mechanic. Takot lng ang iba kasi pag sinabi honda kakabit na ang salitang "prestigous," takot agad ang pumapasok sa isip.. hehehe.. Other parts are also available sa ibang tindahan, gaya rin ng toyota at ng iba pang brands, mabibili na rin sa mga tindahan mga parts ng honda. sa umpisa syempre pag under warranty pa, dapat talga sa casa muna ang PMS pero after warranty madali na ipagawa sa labas. para sa akin mas okey pa nga magpagawa ng cars sa labas kasi kilala mo ang hahawak ng car mo unlike sa casa ang dami, iba iba ang nahawak, pag minalas ka pa baka OJT pa... hehe. Marami akong feedback na nabasa about fuel efficiency ng bagong civic, kala ko dati bola lng ng mga honda agent, pero totoo pala based sa forum dito at sa actual experience ko. compared sa toyota vios ng friend ko, di nagkakalayo fuel consumption namin, sya 1.5 ako 1.8 na, matic pa, kaya masasabi ko tipid talaga sa gas.

Try mo rin muna test drive ng civic or lancer, sa huli naman ikaw pa rin magdedecide. iba ung ma-fe-feel mo pag drive mo na ang unit. malaki ng advantage mo pag nagsawa ka na after 4 years, taas pa rin ng resale value ng honda.
