That's a ridiculous and ignorant statement. Now who'd want to keep a pathetic starex over anything else? The Honda Odessey will kick that starex's ass anyday, anytime, anywhere.

the bottom line is, the starex is a ****ing minivan. And minivans are only for soccer moms scooting their bratty kids to school or to the local soccer game. Minivans suck and are totally UNCOOL. For a real guy to drive around in a minivan is an infringement upon their manhood. Sorry to step on the toes of those "guys" who love minivans...unless youre a soccer mom. LMFAO

I think its more ridiculous to believe a statement obviously written in humour. But that's just me.

Ang sakit mo naman magsalita. Starex? Pathetic?

Well, sorry to hurt your feelings people. But #1, I just dont see the "flash appeal" of owning a minivan. #2, the starex is a diesel burner. Yes, its got a turbo charger. But any diesel powered auto willing to compete with gas-fed motors should have one. But then agaIN, in the Starex's case, its a wimp. Among minivans, if you really have to get one, take the Honda Odyssey. All the luxury features you would only find in a lear jet, 244-hp 3.5 litre GAS engine, 24 valve, i-VTEC, Michelin Run-Flat tech tires, power everything, stock 360-watt 7 speaker soundsystem + subwoofer, XM satellite radio, etc.etc. Now....what was that again about the Starex?

just get an SUV (and not a ****ing AUV either). Sa dinami dami ng Land Cruiser, Patrol, X5, Touraeg, Explorer, Expedition, Navigator, Aviator, CRV, Pilot, 4runner, my god.....the list could take all day. I just dont get it why anybody would want to settle for a god-forsaken minivan over an SUV. Have a little self-respect.

Um, because not all of us are rich and can afford such luxuries? Wake up. Face reality. Mahirap talaga ang buhay ngayon. Yung ipambibili ko ng fancy SUV, ipapakain ko na lang sa pamilya ko or ipangpapaaral sa anak. This is not the 'other' forum full of college kids with deep pockets and big bank accounts. There's nothing shameful about driving something basic and austere.

that's irrelevant. the local price for the honda odyssey is like 1.8M plus.
granted, that's within shouting distance of a 1.4M starex, but that's still very substantial.

we ain't in jersey here.

and don't get me started on the expedition, which costs 2.8M over here.

how can you compare a starex with an expedition which costs twice as much? sure you'll feel a lot more "macho" in the exped. but still..

Some things that the Starex has over the Oddy:
-Low purchase price (be it new or used)
-Tremendous third-party support in terms of parts and service
-Availability of a dual range 4wd system

Who needs 244-hp when you're sitting in traffic all day. The Starex's engine is enough for most road work including running on the expressway.

And there is not really much 'flash appeal' with the Starex. People buy them because they need them. Not to flaunt to their neighbors or to one-up the Joneses.

Here, you need all the hp you can get out of your engine. Hp matters and its not just to brag but to keep up with traffic. Average speed on the highways here are 65-70 mph. Thats about 120 kph. And that is AVERAGE crusing speed. Not someone in a hurry. You run below that, might as well retire your vehicle. If you want a 4WD minivan, there is the Toyota Sienna XLE. Its much more guwapo than the starex and i bet much more roomier. But to each his own.

sir, mawalang galang na po. kasi ang thread na ito is for Starex and Crosswind lang po. the thread starter is looking for an affordable means of transportation. we understand your passion for the vehicles you suggested but it is plainly unaffordable to us, averaged-income people.

+eleventybillion on getting back on topic.

i'm going for starex as well. dami spare parts, and it's gonna fit your needs quite fine, and roomier than the crosswind.

and please, bigboy, try not to be ***ist when it comes to what car to drive or would you want to be labelled as compensating for something if you prefer SUVs?

no offense to otep and the others.

grow up and stop acting like your opinion is the only one that matters. noob.

it's pointless to talk about the merits of these AUV's in US highway driving because (a) they're not sold here, and (b) this is a comparo for the PHILIPPINE market. minivans and diesel engines suck? i happen to think so too, but look up how many vans and diesel powered vehicles have been sold worldwide. i guess if every automaker built vehicles that "didn't suck" they'd go out of business. also, why don't you look up the prices of gas in any other country except the US while you're at it.

a Touareg or Excursion is better than the Starex? haha. they better be, because you can buy 7 Starexes for what you'd pay for one of those. by that reasoning everybody who buys an Evo is an idiot because they could have bought a Ferrari.

even if you have the means to buy a more expensive vehicle than a Starex or Crosswind - it doesn't give you the license to look down on those who choose to buy them because that's what they feel to be within their means.

troll.

Orly,

The Starex starts at Php 1M. Php 1.4M is for the Club model already. If I'm not mistaken, the Club 4x4.

Im not about to argue over the merits of owning an Odyssey over the Starex since both are minivans. And my opinion is that minivans suck. If you need to get a vehicle other than a car, SUVs are the way to go. And I wont have it another way.

Minivans may 'suck' but they get the job done. I'm not going to cram 11 passengers in my Pajero. That's what the MB100 is for. And we enjoy the trip more rather than having to take two separate vehicles.
