    Hi!

    Currently split between a Nissan Patrol (Y61 4.5 V6) or Ford Expedition (UN93 4.6 V8), both Petrol-fed.

Which would be more recommendable in terms of reliability, durability, better parts availability, and lower maintenance costs? I guess what I’d like to know is, which would give less of a headache as a daily driver?

Please note, fuel consumption is not a concern.

    Thanks!

I'd go with the Patrol, mas timeless yung itsura. to me the expedition body design doesn't age well... As to reliability, just look at many UN units deployed around the world

I actually like how the UN93 Expedition looks. It's butch and massive. And it says 'get out of my way' better than the Y61 Patrol. But that's probably just me.

Of the 2, the UN93 is more comfortable to ride. Interior size-wise, I think it also makes better use of the layout by providing lots of space for the 2 front rows.

Unfortunately, the UN93, I believe, has more reliability issues. I had one from 1999 to 2004. Aircon system failed me twice and some underchassis issues. Thankfully, the air suspension did not give up on me until I sold it, and I was not plagued with electronic gremlins (unlike the unit my friend got).

So I'd probably go for the Y61. Just change the shocks (and maybe springs, too) to get a better ride.

Reliability and durability, Patrol no doubt. As with parts, it may be a bit harder to source the gas engine parts for the Patrol versus the Exped however other parts (suspension, body, etc) shouldnt be much of a problem.

I'd get the Expedition if fuel economy is not a concern. Just get the later versions of the UN93 which have multireflector hedlamps and DVD system. These are also relatively cheap, at just the price of 2nd hand compact sedans. The power of a 4.6V8 is also definitely unmistakeable compared to a 4.5V6 engine. Besides, I like the way the Expedition rides, the space is very much abundant as well. And due to its size, it can seat 10 in a 3/4/3 configuration easily enough. With the Expedition, aside from the multireflector headlamps, just get some 22" rims and minor engine mods and you're ready to go!

Echo that... stay away from earlier units with the air suspension.

The Expedition is a more practical car for daily use in the city (if you consider an SUV that seats 9-10 people motivated by a huge V8 practical) and is much more comfortable.

Aside from the air suspension, watch for brake and suspension issues... particularly if the owner was fond of using all that power...

Don't want an E150? That's a car that says "security escort", and it's immensely more comfortable than the other two. Drives like a bus... seats almost as many people.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
