    Among the following:

    Galant GTi
    Altima 2.0 SSS
    Galant VR
    Corona
    Camry
    Accord

Which will reign supreme in terms of performance? (ALL STOCK, ALL MT)

for me, i still prefer the gti galant.....love it stil up till now, but lynx rs rivals it in my preference e....galant VR(ung sinundan ng gti) ok din, pero ung v6 guzler lang ng konti, pero, iba parin performance ng gti...and for me,ha, in stock form, mas guwapo ung gti....inis nga ko kay daddy kung bakit ung maxima kinuha nya...pero ok din naman maxima,e...but i really like the gti galant, lalo na ung mga bibihirang VR-4 versions na imported...

ung accord, well, same as corona, ok lang din...early models ata di pa VTEC..alam ko 2.0 and 2.2 makina nito...forgot the engine model, though..

my vote goes to the Galant Gti. after a decade and ownership of 5 cars that vehicle is still my dream car. elusive kasi the fresher models...but they're really good looking and have reasonably sturdy engines. one GTi chased me from the nlex edsa tollgate to san simon last year, and we switched lead posits several times. i was inside a 2.0 CRV. those GTis can still haul ass.

second is the corona...boring to drive but looks sportier than any other toyota i know of.

altima looks a bit dated na...those teardrop shapes are an acquired taste. dunno bout the engine, but if it's anything like the boring engines inside 93 sentras, well..

accord and camry look too wide...like yachts. they're more for leisure cruising IMO.

Sakin I'd pick the GTi as well, followed by the VR, then my Alty (love driving this thing hehe)... I find the Accord really slow though, although the shape is very well designed.

I like the Euro-look of the Corona but the interior is a bit too square and plain...

Performance, I've only driven the GTi and Alty na long term...

the 2.0 altima i think was rated at 156 hp...though meron ding 1.8L kasi noon...will have to search for that old brochure

straight line acceleration, top speed - nissan altima. trust me, 160kph would easily come unnoticed.

looks-wise, Galant GTi though...that car is going to be a true classic someday -- o hindi pa ba?

    Uh-uh... non federalised 626... that's 130hp. And don't forget the Vectra.

    8g galant vr has 165hp.
    7g galant vr has 163hp.
    cefiro97 v6 has 155-165hp.
    a31 cefiro I-6 has 150hp.
    6g galant gti has 145hp.
    altima 2L has 145hp.
    accord 2.2L has 145hp.
    camry 2.2L has 129hp.
    corona 2L has 127hp.
    accord 2L has 126hp.
    626 2L has 130hp.
    Opel Vectra 2L has 136hp.

The Mazda 626 is relatively sharp down low, good torque, but not as good as the Galant or the Altima. It's got a stiff set-up, but stock wheels are on the small and slippery side, and there's not enough suspension travel to give it good handling.

Have not driven the Altima, but I have had the SR20... wonderful, wonderful engine, high redline, good power curve.

    Accords of this era... meh.

I'd say the most thrilling would probably be the Galant GTi... quickest, too... unless the Galant V6s came in here with MT. The Cefiro V6s did have MT, but those are heavy bodies.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I'd take the Galant VR then the Galant GTi.

But, I rather have 2 (USDM) not on the list: Nissan Sentra SE-R (140hp and) or the old turbo-4 Ford Probe GT (145 hp and sister of Mazda MX-6). The Probe GT specially with 190 lb-ft torque.

    Niky,

i have had a 95 626 before, i swear its only 118hp....really its in the low side but torque is good. the 130hp is for those 98 onwards facelifted USDM models with fugly extended bumpers.

195/60R15 tires isnt in the low side but firestone tires are really kiinda slippery...but its even better than Corona's 195/70R14 tires. it has soft, compliant ride but has great handling.

either galant for me. the 2.0L 4G63 can still run with the best of em. not to mention the abundance of parts. close 2nd yung VR basta manual tranny.

126 lang pala yung accord... kaya pala... The GTi rocks esp if bago sya, when my folks had one dati (white) grabe ang sarap sarap nya i-drive compared to the 1.8SS carb at 2.0 MPi that we also had (addict ata sa galant erpat ko dati)... Love the seats...

With the Alty, it accelerates really well all the way to 160ish even with a 4AT, I don't like the wide turning radius, though, palaging aatras ka pa ulit sa tight parking entry like sa galleria (right wing).

actually that 145hp quote is already an optismistic number for the Altima coz in the US the SR20DE we have in the local Altima, only has 140hp, it was fitted in the USDM b13 & b14 Sentra SER and 200SX SER, respectively. i just heard that local Altima has 145hp. i bet the 1.8 SS Altima is in the league of 120+hp something.

    156hp is kinda uber. ;)

In the US, Altima comes with a KA24DE not SR20DE, they never had a SR-powered U13.

    KA24DE
    Specifications
    Max power: 155 hp (115 kW) * 5600 rpm
    Max torque: 160 ft·lbf (217 N·m) * 4400 rpm
    Valve Configuration: DOHC, 16 valves
    Compression ratio: 8.9:1, 9.2:1, 9.5:1

... It was the Sentra SE-R that came with the SR20DE, although a lot of people are transplanting the DET engine from the Japan U13 Bluebird Atessa.
