my 94 2.0 automatic altima gets 7km/li city hehe * 145hp, can't complain about a car that handles well, fast, very comfy, and clean interior design... at the same price of a friggin lousy 1.3XL Corolla with no power (literally) and bare as hell...

If you can stand the LRT look :P

but based on your options, I'd stick to 1600s... Doesn't matter kung Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Mitsu, 2.0 and higher cars are expensive to maintain relatively and parts are not as easy to get...

Sentra parts are verrrrrrrry easy to find hehe, and the fact that Nissan dealers (casa) always have good sales sa parts, you'll end up buying OEM stuff all the time without spending a fortune...

I use to own a 95 sentra series 3 SS. Its very easy maintain and nice to drive, medyo matigas lang clutch. Don't believe yung mga honda and toyota fanboy, the sentra is very good value for your hard earned money.

hmm dunno kung OT guys pero ask ko lang po, does the sentra series 2 and 3 share the same GA16DE engine? timing chain din po ba yung series 2? di hamak kasing mura po ang sentra series 2 kaysa sa series 3 although mas prefer ko talaga series 3...

kainis lang kasi grabe, having problems with the money pa kaya di pa tuloy ako makabili.... pero hopefully, i'd get my hands on one sentra super saloon series 3 in the next few weeks. thanks for the helps guys..... any other sentra owners here? give your feed backs po!

thanks richie29, migs26 and alvin708 for your feedbacks!

AFAIK, we don't have the GA16DE engine on 1600 Sentras released locally here in Ph. Local Sentras released here have the GA16DNE Nissan engine, same with the Mexican releases. Take note that these are different engines, the DE comes with VTC while the local DNE doesn't. The DNE has MAF inside a vertical throttle body, also comes without ECCS plenum. Both are DOHC and timing chain.

ow really? i used to have a brochure of the sentra series 3 and it said there that the engine was either a GA16DE or a GA14DE. Actually, nakaka confuse nga kasi according din sa wikipedia, the GA16DE came with VTC nga...

sorry kung makulit but does that mean that both B13 and B14 sentras released here all have the GA16DNE engine? And that both are using timing chains instead of belts? There's this one Sentra kasi na 130 k na B13. I'm really interested in getting a B14 though. But if basically, the B13 and B14 have the same engine, i might actually consider having a B13 na lang...

    pls enlighten me guys.... thanks!

Honestly I'd go for the Nissan sentra series3, I own one, and it never gave a problem. I tried traveling 4 times in 2 weeks going to ilocos, and never gave me a headache, I'm only paying 2200 pesos for 1 way, and the ride is awesome. It's a good car to own.

    Choices ko po......
Personally, Nissan fan ako, so pinaka gusto ko sana, 1996-1998 Nissan Sentra Series 3 Super Saloon... Manual Tranny... (all power, power retracting side mirrors, lamig ang aircon)
kaso, a lot of people are actually discouraging me na kumuha ng Nissan (hirap daw i-maintain, aircon lang daw ang maganda, etc)
They are telling me to buy a Civic (ok sana pero uber mahal), or a Corolla (medyo boring ang design pero dali i-maintain daw) instead..

Civics cost more than 200k (so out of budget na) and Corollas naman, lower models yung papasok sa budget ko...

    - A Nissan Sentra Super Saloon (1995 - 1998)
    - Toyota Corolla GLi (1993-1996)
    - Honda Esi (1993)
    - Toyota Corona EX/Exsior (1993-1995)
    - Mitsubishi Galant (1995-1998)
or finally, Honda Accord (1996 and below)

Help naman po! all your replies would be greatly appreciated... saka sana po, wag masyado biased... yung talagang great value-for-money, matibay at easy to maintain po... Great Day!

My nissan S2 B13 1.4Li M/T 93model, gives me 8-9km/liter sa city and about 14km/li sa highway. Bilib ako sa makina nito, till now wala pang major trouble. But thats good enough for a 17 year old car.

For me, i'd choose nissan, pasok sa budget. Just choose a newer model as your budget can afford.

I personally owned a Sentra Series III EX Saloon before and dare I say mas durable pa sya kesa sa Corolla XE namen.

If you have the budget for a midsized sedan (assuming that you have the budget to maintain it as well with the higher FC more expensive parts and all), why not? Its a really rewarding experience. Even if its old, the feeling of driving a midsized sedan will always be different from driving even a brand new econobox, its a really rewarding experience. I doubt if the Galant is available for just 150-160k. The Accord is particularly good. Its very comfortable and powerful, but for your budget you'll only be able to get the pre-facelift non-VTEC EXi version. As for the Corona... its not really my thing and its not as powerful as the others although its reliable and probably cheap to maintain as well. You may also consider the Nissan Altima, its smaller than the others with a size somewhat between a compact and a midsize sedan but its got that prized SR20DE engine. Then there is the Mazda 626, it may not look good but the handling is great and the engines are powerful be it 2.0I4 or 2.0V6, the sound they make is very pleasing too. If you want a compact, the Corolla 1.6GLi is the way to go. It goes without saying that this is a reliable and economical car that offers good performance as well.

go with the sentra.... i tried canvassing for toyota parts... masmalaki chance mo makakuha ng peke! unlike nissan parts. at overpriced talaga ang mga toyotas.... very very "brainwashed" idea that toyotas are alot better than other brands...

May Mazda Familia kami, '97 model. Nasa P10k ang brand new non . Nabenta namin dahil binaha (ondoy). Kung hindi tumagal pa sa amin. Bentahan ng Familia nasa P140K-P180K ang price range. Isama mo sa choice kung gusto mo. Fuel consumption sa highway ng 1.6 Familia is 12-13km/l. Yun 1.3 lang ang di ko alam. But still panalo ang Nissan sa FC.
