does the phdm jazz come with 1.5litre i-VTEC (121hp-2006 model) or the 1.5-liter SOHC VTEC (109hp-2005)? if it comes with the 121hp engine coupled with CVT.... hands down jazz na ko. or maybe you should wait out for the 2006 model saka natin icompare ang dalawa.

Swift na lang. Jazz? Honestly, it wouldn't even occur to me sa looks and 'uniqueness' department. I think may dressed-up version ang swift worth 800k+ (?). It's really cute.

my brother and i are also choosing between swift and jazz. hirap talaga mamili for my hard earned money (or at least, half of it hehe). mas practical kasi ang jazz for its resale value. at sa pangalan palang honda kasi. and awarded pa na Japanese Car of the Year. and for almost the same price naka CVT ka pa, parang F1/expensive car, which allows the selection of infinite number of gear ratios (which may translate to better fuel economy). Pero kung mamamaintain naman ng maayos yung swift pede pang ipang-college car ng bunso namin na babae na 12 years old, ang ganda kasi parang minicooper, timeless design and rare pa. may pink ba nito? hehehe

are you sure that there's a 1.5L i-VTEC engine?

AFAIK, only the 1.8L i-VTEC was the only new engine released by honda this year (so far).

btw, what's the engine code of the new Civic 2.0L? is it a rebored R series? or a detuned K series?

yup, the 2006 jazz will come with 1.5L i-VTEC engine (or at least in UAE). if ever dadating sa phdm to, ito na talaga kukunin namin.

The current Civic has the K20... basically a retuned version of the base 155hp K20. No comparison to the Si engine, there are differences in the head and ECU that make up the power differences. AFAIK, SOHC yata ang local na K20, while DOHC ang high output version.

problem is that in the Philippines, the Jazz/City currently only has the 1.5L VTEC engine. they haven't even released here the 1.5L i-DSI engine (which is already available in other ASEAN countries) so I highly doubt that they'll be bringing here the 1.5L i-VTEC engine.

Kung sa original question, pala... odell, go for the one that you like driving more. Kahit common ang jazz, masaya siyang i-drive, at mas maganda pa rin ang engine at transmission niya. Plus the space! Or, if you can stomach the cheap interior plastics, go for the 1.5 turbodiesel Getz and laugh like a maniac as you zip through traffic.

mas mukhang malaki pala sa personal yung swift. maluwang din yung space sa makina at malinis tingnan. bodykits/spoiler/door handle protectors are available for 72k php pero matatawaran upto 60k, japan daw ito. tapos yung unit built in japan.Nako napakahirap mamili...

driving characteristic ay sa swift.

yung engine/consumption halos pareho lang.

sa transmission mas ok siguro yung normal setup na auto transmission ng swift kasi beltdriven yung cvt parang mas madaling madale sa wear and tear... which means higher maintenance??? pero ala pa naman atang nagrereklamo sa cvt transmission...

another question is which has better interior/amenities between the two?
mukang swift na talaga.... naka 15in rims na to stock..
