considering that car's in the 50k pesos and below price are typically useless junk..

and as you get higher the lesser the risk of buying a lemon..

although we could say that used cars are used cars, whether you bought the car at a price of 400k .. it is still a used car and the risk of getting a car with issues is still probability..

so what is a safe price for buying a 2nd hand car? where the risk and price meet near the middle..

Pa-estimate mo sa mga casa. Or pacheck mo kung may ibang sira (syempre kasama owner) then magmeet kayo sa price na LESS ung mga sira if di na nya ipagawa.

walang safe amount na masasabi..kasi pag ni road test mo yan oks naman pero aftr a few months baka abutin na sa iyo pagpalit ng parts eh di gagastos ka na...para mas safe hindi sa price eh dapat kilala mo yung me ari at alam mo kung paano nya alagaan yung car and get higher model kung kaya ng budget

does it mean one could buy a really good condition, nothing to fix car say 15 year old car at a price of 100k? and there is also a chance that you could buy a newer car with lots of issues for a price of 300k?

i'm actually looking for a safe amount or baseline when buying a used car, like other people would only consider buying car which are newer than 10 years..

Follow your intuition lang.

Best move is to alot 10k-20k budget for repairs. Around 30k if walang alam sa oto at walang kasamang mekaniko nung binili ang oto.

Budget for total suspension repair - 15k lahat palit (get one with minimal thugs and squeeks para around 5k-ish lang)
    AC - 5k
    Alternator - 2k
Paint - Depends on quality and size of car - 20k starting(get a car without body problems)
    Cooling system - 5k
Engine - dont get a car with a busted engine
Electrical - veer away from a car with f-ckd up electricals

Basta ganito lang yan, target car = market value + 10k - 20k repairs = Total budget

In my experience, bought second hand car at 400k which is actually in exellent condition. Physically inspected the engine, drive train and final drives and everything was in good shape (competent enough to inspect, been involved as a fleet engr where i manage hundreds of equipments). After two months of infrequent use, problems came out. Burst steering pump hose, ac compressor breaks down dat cost me 20k+ and replaced front shocks. Defects will just come out no matter how good is your ride but preventive maintenance will help a lot.

what's a safe amount for buying a 2nd hand car?
