You actually don't save much if you buy a 2nd hand diesel SUV / pickup since the resale value is so high it's better to buy brand new.

One would think that 2014 Mazda CX-5 would have ironed out the kinks already since the Mazda CX-5 was released 2012.

I look at these figures as my basis of how these cars/units perform in the market. like for example, if a unit have a good resale value, it means that these units give less problems to the owners (parts availability, durability, after sales service, maintenance etc.) Am I correct, no??
Sold MY black Innova G diesel manual for 550k after seven years of excellent service without any headache. I was only looking for only 500k but the buyer's first offer was good for me already, so it was a 5min. deal. Really loved that car never gave me headache hanggang bintahan.

Best resale value: 2005 Toyota Prado VX. I sold mine after 11 years of service. The price still able to buy a brand new compact sedan.

    Worst: Kia Sorento

Strada 4x4 top-of-the-line ko dati nabile ko ng bnew P910k, 9 years later nabenta ko ng 550k. ni hindi ako nagpalit ng gulong at pasira na turbo, maingay na.

those were the days when the strada is benefitting from the popularity of the Fieldmaster

    ---

eh wala kayo sa tatay ko, he bought a 16 valve bnew 1990 corolla gL red at 330k, in 1994 he sold at 270k. sa sobrang atat ng kumpare nya nya hinagis sa kanya 270k, no choice na tatay ko pero meron sya ka-deal na 280k

    those were the days. hahaha

    ---

but the biggest deal of my life was my Suzuki Samurai, originally bought for 280k fully -loaded. for 10 years I endured that trash of a vehicle, lagi may kalampag wala power steering, sa sobrang poorly built, kumalas ang 4x4 mechanism

then there's this buy and sell who wanted to get the car at 220k. sabi ko sobrang ambaba naman ng offer mo. so sige bigay ko na. nun nagkabayaran na, sabi ko ay teka, gusto mo kunin yun nakalas na 4x4 mechanism yun bar sa ilalim. ay opo tapos sobrsng grateful sya, at tenk u ng tenk u.

Any thoughts on the Ford Focus TDCi? Seems to have an even worst resale value than the Mazda 3. What's a a good year model for this vehicle? Anything to look out for with this model?

Just need a cheap diesel city errand vehicle.

The galant's resale value is worse. Bought our 1995 vr6 Galant at 1.2m and when we sold it, the price was around 300k-400k

If you're getting one, get the manual. There have been horror stories for the DCT, although the cases aren't as widespread as the Fiesta DCT problems.

^^^ Would get one with a higher mileage about 50T kms to be sure that it doesn't have DCT issues. Still considering other options.

What do you think of the 2010-2012 Mazda 6? But the price is close to the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
