    Anong Starex?

    Millenium? GRX series?

    CRDi or TCi?

I'd stay away from Millenium Starex's and below, the engine is just too weak. For the GRX CRDi, many say that the 4 speed A/T (which is reportedly still the same unit from the Millenium Starex) saps a sizeable amount of the engine's power especially in the lower revs though the M/T gives it very good performance. The Grand Starex TCI should be just barely adequate if not rather underpowered for the heavy body, if you're getting this one I'd suggest you get the M/T to retain some degree of performance. As for the Grand Starex VGT, I'd say get the 5 speed A/T with manual shift override to have the performance of the manual and the convenience of the automatic.

For the millenium TCi (based from personal experience kasi we owned a SVX M/T and currently have the Club A/T)

    M/T:
    Pros:
    - Quicker response
    - Hindi boring sa long drives
    - Easier to maintain
    - Pwede pa itulak para mag-start kapag low power ang battery

    Cons:
    - Nakaka pagod sa long drives

    A/T:
    Pros:
    - Relax driving
    - Very convenient in long drives

    Cons:
    - Sluggish
    - Sluggish
    - And sluggish

    Mabagal talaga ang hatak, seriously.

+1 for Starex_Gold. I really like our starex especially for long drives and traffics.

    thanks.
and i wish to ask, are there peculiarities to the starex? as in, is it known to break down at regular intervals, more than the japanese cars? my besta suffered from weak rubber parts, but the metal parts were ok.. what are the commonly encountered troubles with the starex?

Ang problem lang namin dati sa starex namin is the air-conditioning system. May part na palaging sira doon sa aircon namin. Nakalimutan ko lang yung tawag sa specific part. Also, lagi sira yung alternator namin before. Pero nung napalitan na namin ng bago, no problems at all na.

I love riding in a 1999 Starex TCi A/T with Intercooler. It's very comfortable and the speed is okay, not at all sluggish.
