    hi there bros,

i'm considering buying a second hand multi-purpose vehicle, pangharabas sa barrio...and i woulld like to ask the ff. factors to decide upon: fuel consumption, parts availability coz of old age model & maintenance.

i'm very much aware sa diesel engine somehow but if the gas variant is not too far off pwede na din piliin over the other...

owner type jeep sana but everyone told me kung kukuha ng unit choose na ginawa ng legit. manufacturer at least my safety feature at specification lahat ng parts unlike the former.

your inputs is highly appreciated, thanks in advance mgs sir/s...

Magkano ba ang budget mo bro? Yung simbahan namin merong isang lumang 1997 FX diesel. Ngayon ay lagpas 200tkms na. Tinanong ko isang beses at sinabi wala pa daw major repairs yan. I suppose kung pang-barrio lang, pwede na yan.

Yung ganito oh, perfect for pang-harabas. Maporma pa. Toyota Tamaraw FX High Side Diesel MT - 97 | Other Vehicles, Accessories & Parts for sale Valenzuela | AyosDito.ph

Ang linis niyang FX na yan ah. Sayang lang di na stock rims, but it looks really well maintained.

Ako I'll go for gasoline. Early 90s nung nag kolorum kapitbahay namin ng FX na diesel. Lagin may repair. Di talaga maganda Toyota na diesel ever since. No offense!

Originally steel rims lang rin siguro ang stock at nilagyan lang ng hub caps. Since pang-barrio harabas lang naman, I suppose any of the two will do. Basta may tamang alaga, both will serve you well. But then, yung diesel mas mura by P10/L, so there's the deal clincher. Also, 1.8L carb engine siguradong malakas humigop yan, lalo na't luma na.

diesel or gas does not matter...as long as the consumption is efficient. sir gti do you have experience having an old model gas car having this case? is it always the notion that once old (engine) the fuel consumption suffers terribly? kindly share your views sir...TIA

I still remember our old 1989 Nissan Sentra 1.6SGX. We sold it back in 2000. As the it got older, fuel consumption increased, increased drastically at that. I remember at that time, we filled it up with P200 unleaded gasoline. Our relative would fill her 1993 Lancer GLXi with P50 unleaded gasoline and it would last about just as far!

Besides, carburetor engines are known for being inefficient and weak as compared to EFi engines of the same displacement. 1.8L is also not considered small displacement already. Even modern 1.8L engines would get just 7-9km/L city on average.

So mas gusto mo pala yung wagon type. I thought since pang harabas, baka mas magiging practical ang FB type. Kung sakaling talagang nagkaproblema ka with the 2C engine, pwede siguro i-swap yan ng 2L engine ng Revo. Its more powerful and has no known sicknesses to be worried about. I'm sure it wouldn't cost much.

since not much knowledgeable on carbs, your expert opinions based on personal experience is highly valuable to consider sir gti

pangharabas na may porma naman sana sir hehe altho still a good choice w/ regards sa mga revo units but the price range is gonna be high...but...your suggestion of getting an FX unit replaced w/ revo engine is another good idea, i'll try to research more on this set-up at least for assurance of longer utilization and personal satisfaction...hindi muna po ako magpapasalamat sir baka may kasunod pa hehe

I'm not sure if this would help..but my uncle who still uses their 1997 FX GL gas model as their service (usually fully loaded) for their canteen in UST tells me that he consumes around 5-6 km/L..his daily route is from Araneta going to UST via p.margal..so I guess talagang malakas lang sa gas yung mga FX na 1.8 carb..

Probably I would consider the diesel fx.
