Smuggled or not, mas mainit talaga sa mata ng transportation authorities ang mga Cebu imports because the license plates do not match the model year of the vehicle. So it's pretty obvious that the vehicles were imported as used units.

Also, if you use them in Metro Manila, the 'Y' plates will surely stand out since 'Z' is the current series offered here.

if you want to buy from cebu, suggest you should live in visayas or mindanao. You will be the favorite kotong by all the manila cops. Even if that car paid all the taxes, you will still be the CHOSEN ONE, always being stopped and your documents checked. And they will assume you are guilty until proven innocent. Why? Nangyari na kasi sa amin yan. Our Cebu office sent a Kia sportage to Manila. Ayun, sabit for 2 months, nasa impounding area. We finally had to pay them off. When we asked if pwede na magamit sa Luzon/Manila, they even said send it back to Cebu. Where is the car now? Being used in Bacolod by the salesman assigned there.

--Tingin ko bro pag hindi Manila plates takot bumili ang buyer unless you live in Cebu and you use the vehicle there.
--For instance yung plate starting in R palang iniiwasan ng mga buyers like a plague in Metro Manila and Calabarzon.

--Just a suggestion just buy from legitimate second hand dealers or locally sourced vehicles.
---Mainit ang Cebu, isa yan sa bagsakan ng smuggled and of course the center of smuggling ang Subic...
--If you want high tech vehicles or luxury vehicles go to the nearest legitimate importers. Sa Metro, CATs at Prestige car ata. O yung Hari o Columbian Motors.

Alang available locally.

--Just a suggestion, there is a thread here about the problem of buying imported (smuggled) cars.

--Tsaka resale value yan sigurado, bagsak.

--Bili ka na lang ng Ford or Toyota, locally made na, may spareparts pa.

i have seen a lot of cebu cars that was registered in Diliman LTO so their plates start with Z na. I think its better kung ganun but be sure may kilala ka sa LTO diliman to process the papers.

    1. Check mo kung converted from right hand to left hand drive.
