Just considering my options given the recent car troubles i've been having...

Am looking for an under 1m car, small enough to drive comfortably, but with flexible interior space for hauling stuff or people. i don't haul stuff/people day in, day out, so a full size van/suv/mpv may get tiresome to drive.

Other considerations are: FC, ease of maintenance/low maintenance costs, something with high ground clearance for the occassional(?) floods.

What do you guys think, Avanza or APV? An Avanza owner here in the office commented that kulang yung hatak, even with the 1.5L engine, with only 3 people onboard. Been hearing a lot of positive comments re the APV, but the seats don't look that comfortable(at least dun sa base model). And mababa daw ground clearance?(the brochure says 180mm)

i've considered the Adventure and Crosswind, but these are old-school diesels, and i don't need any hassle from the ASBU.

A Jazz will be a good all-around option.

You can get a Nissan NP300 Calibre 4x2 with your budget. Affordable ang maintenance ng Nissan and we're very happy with our Sylphy 1.8 (Sentra B17 global model code) that's why we're looking to buy more Nissans (Altima and Pathfinder). That is if you want to keep the car for a quite a while. Talo kasi sa resale value if you like to change cars every 3 years (in such case, geta Toyota, but you already know that, I am sure).

Since, like many pointed out, olats ang Nissan sa Sales (since Nissan Japan just took over PH ops), they're so desperate to sell they'd give you the moon if they can. Me, I just asked for a free platelight mounted rearcam. They'll never ask for a DI and they'd readily give you a unit even if you buy cash or bank p.o..

Seriously? A Suzuki APV? Try to look at Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.

The Sylphy 1.8V CVT is great value for a car priced below 1M. However, if you need a small car that can serve as a weekend hauler, the Jazz with its rear seats folding flat can carry a lot of stuff.

    Agree, Ertiga or Mobilio.
Between the 2, I'd go for Mobilio because it is more spacious. It's more expensive, but still within the budget.

I wouldn't recommend a pickup, because it's too cumbersome to drive for anyone who won't use the bed all that much.

It's at least a meter longer than other cars in the price range, all for a bed that you won't be able to use for groceries, bags, and small stuff, because it can rain, and thieves are rampant. Even if you get a rear roller lid (another 25k expense), water will still seep through, and your stuff can roll around the large bed.

In city driving, you will be inconvenienced by the large turning radius, and the sheer bulk of the car will make it unnecessarily hard to park. It's only worth it if you haul lots of big things, and cross floods and bad roads a lot. If it's just the ride height you're concerned with, get an Ecosport or Innova.

A pickup for urban living is like buying a car without a trunk, and volunteering to give yourself added difficulty in maneuvering in tight spaces. Which is why I went back to a sedan.

Same sentiments as jut. Plus pickups don't have very good handling and braking compared to a sedan or compact crossover.

This post makes a whole lot of sense with regards to the recent accident in Skyway of a Strada in big rims (more like 20") with low profile tires almost breaking the barrier. No news about the cause of the accident but pictures show it blew up its right front tire. It was a blessing the rear section went over the railing as if it was the front, it could have fallen off the Skyway.
