Some '03 units were already CRDi engines, later units to be exact. I haven't tested an AT on CRDi engine yet, but I tried to test drive it once on its old turboed engine, it sucks. Turbo lag + AT scavenging = late acceleration.![]()

Oh, did I forget to mention Starex engines never overheat? :D
Thanks to its oil coolers! You can even leave it parked with AC on, while waiting for your beloved passengers.![]()
CRDi Starex units are available only through the gray market. They can be had in GRX or GOLD trim level with a choice of A/T or M/T as well as 4wd or 2wd.
The units can still be serviced by authorized dealers. The only thing they will not honor is the warranty. There is a Starex dealer in Banawe that lets Class-A Motorcraft handle warranty claims. Class-A is way better than most casas. I just don't think the dealer gives out a 2-3 year warranty.
The intercooler uses an air induction system similar to my scoopless Pajero.
Dream family van ko talaga yung Starex 4x4 A/T. La lang.Siguro kapag time to have a family na. hehehe.

wow galing ah di nagooverheat. nakakainggit naman specially for l300 owners![]()
Oteps, may balak ka ata ah. :D
I already saw some CRDI Starex models undergoing the knife in some shops... Since it's still a fairly new engine model, i'd still lean towards the old intercooler engine just for now (for reliability and parts issues).
Parked or running along expressways, pag dinaanan ka ng bus or trucks and lakas ng wind drag.
I've driven a 4x4 Starex Club (the Millenium series) and I did not really find anything funny with the driving dynamics.
Exaggerated lang ang body roll like in those old Range Rovers.
But I don't think it got to the point of being dangerous even if I was pushing it hard.

bakit d mo try mb100 van? ok din naman yun e. never pa kami nagkaproblema sa makina. yes korea ang kaha pero ang engine germany. bumili kami nun 1997 model and up to now wala pa sira sa makina. ang pinaka problema lang namin dati is yung aircon. oo nga pla, if ever wag ka kukuha ng sangyong na mb100 look alike. ang sangyong kasi may 15 years life time sa makina sa mb100 lifetime use... hope nakatulong ako :D
allanraymondr,
Pareho tayo ng van. 1997 MB100D din yung samin galing sa CMC.
Stellar performance. Up to now wala kaming makitang ipapalit. Nothing in the price class can match it.

But if your driver is ham-fisted, he can make a mess of the shifter molding.Good engine, could use more grunt for its size, though.
The best eco-van (in terms of driving) that I've tried is the Mazda E-series van (1.8 gas)... grabeng lakas ng makina! Number one problem, though, is parts.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
I heard some say to get the M/T version of Starex rather than the A/T. Any particular reason why some say this?
Fixed my mind on getting a Starex however I can't decide which variant to take. Need you input peepz.
I have driven both versions.
The A/T is not too far behind the M/T in terms of performance and economy.
I'd go with the A/T anytime.
Old mentality na lang siguro yung nagsasabing mahina ang mga A/T. Just don't expect sedan-like performance. It is still a van, after all.

sir ask ko lang same ba yun makina ng starex crdi 2002 model and starex crdi 2004 new look?
sa old look ng starex which 1 is good machine crdi 2002 model or 2002 with turbo intercooler
All CRDi Starex's use the same 145bhp 2.5L engine.
CRDi makes 145bhp, non-CRDi makes 99bhp.
