TS is looking for a sporty ride, not a slow 2-door 4x4. Even if you modify it to look like a Merc G or an LR, it ain’t going to be sporty.

Unless his daily office route is through twisty mountain roads, a sporty vehicle won't be so sporty in reality ...

You can’t blame people for wanting a fast car. A sporty ride does not need twisty mountain roads everyday, maybe just something to get you quicker than most of those boring rides on the road.

^I'd pick the Civic RS as well. Mas simple pero beasty.

Sure the civic is faster and a little bit lighter but that doesn’t mean its sportier.

Although we can’t understand the language, we can understand the context of the video. The Focus is faster on their mini track, and it handles tighter than the Civic RS...

Pero sa pogi points, I think Civic RS talaga ang panalo.

Look for a good used gen1 supercharged BMW MINI. Sort the quirks out w/ updates & upgrades, maintenance will be simple. The electonics, elementary. Fun daily & project in 1.[emoji4]

That's why I stressed gen1. The purist's choice. Raw. The quirks have answers, the R53 engine is port injected & bulletproof...oh, that supercharger whine.[emoji4]

Have the same problem with the TS i was eyeing the miata rf, but when i sat on it sa pims last week, lagpas ng windshield ulo ko at mukhang hindi proportion sa akin. My height is 6'2" weight is 220lbs
If the ts is a bit smaller than i am my recommendation is miata

Sporty pa rin naman category ng civic rs. Maybe not rwd but still fast enough for a spirited driving.

But yes. The 86/brz would really be more sporty just by looking at it. Hehe

I'm sure he'll need a tall Jimny in the mountainous route of QC to Ortigas/Makati

    My budget is around 1M-1.5M

    I'm choosing between the following:

    • 86/BRZ
    • MX-5
    • Civic RS
    • Focus

    Not interested sa WRX

For the MX-5 or BRZ, I'll be getting it in M/T if ever. I drive through rush hour traffic daily, QC to Ortigas/Makati.

I'm single BTW, no family and no GF lol. We also have a carens and jazz if I need space for people and/or stuff.

    What do you guys think?

    TIA!

    dodo ngo,

Syempre bilhin mo yung mukhang 1.5milyones. And singol and no sabit ka so you enjoy life. Buy a manual transmssion. Its dancing inside the car.

Halimbawa nagdrive ka tapos biglang napadaan ka sa mga pedestrian na mga chicks. Saan ba mapapa-wow yan. Syempre jan sa 86 and mx5.

Pero unfair naman kasi sa civic at focus yung comparison.

    Dapat magkalevel lang.

When one needs to keep friends off for some privacy, a 2seater can provide that w/o need for excuses.[emoji4]
Since the OP has practi-cars, the MX5 ND is the itch he needs to scratch. A future classic. A roadster. It may not have the Anglo pedigree, but it's a nippon legend that gives something the Euros can't....RELIABILITY. Oh, it's a hoot to drive, too.[emoji4]

In terms of reliability the 86/BRZ will be better. First of all, the mx5 only has direct injection, while the 86/BRZ have both port and direct injection. That means the mx5 will most likely accumulate carbon deposits over time. Second, if its the soft top mx5, the cover and rubber seals will wear out overtime, and will have some holes in them... and when it rains water will come inside the cabin. Another thing to worry about. We should not forget, the OP is looking for a daily driver, not a weekend car.

Perhaps after the valve springs are addressed.

True, DIs have that drawback. I won't worry about the Skyactiv as much as I would w/ Bimmer DIs which are known to have carbon build-up early. From the number of untouched high mile Skyactivs out there, Mazda's approach of pushing walnut blasting back seems to be working. Taken from: 13:1 Compression and 4 mpg on 87 Octane fuel? "To eliminate the problem of intake valve deposits that plague current direct gasoline injection engines, the engineers at Mazda determined that deposits are formed when intake valve temperatures fall below 400 degrees C. Measures were taken so that the intake valve would operate above this point to reduce deposit formation."
Let's see how far back the push will be.....
On the roof, if the lighter ragtop is unwanted, there's the RF.
All that said, both the 86 & MX5 are great cars. Personally, I'm just more drawn to the Miata.[emoji4]

Don’t believe all things manufacturers say. A direct injection is still a direct injection. Unless you can live with the extra maintenance of cleaning the intake valves, don’t get a car with just a direct injection.
