liteboxxx,
first of all, how much is your budget? From there you can work on which car for you? 2nd hand, I'd always go for a Toyota, since a Toyota has always been reliable & kalat ang pyesa & madaming mekaniko me kabisado ng Toyota. Kung me kakilala ka na mekaniko, isama mo kung titingin ka ng auto.
Goodluck.

That's good. Madami ka mapagpipilian. This are my recommended buy:

1. Toyota Altis
2. Honda Civic (2004 model pababa)
3. Toyota RevO (diesel)

4. Mitsubishi Adventure diesel (2005 model pababa)

Masmaganda kung AUV kunin mo. RevO or Adventure. Matibay, malaki & pampamilya.

+1 on an AUV (can accomodate to as much as 10 pax or combined 5-7 pax and cargo) but diesel.

Add to the list the ISUZU Crosswind. For that price, you could get an XTO or maybe an XUV.

Good luck on the search!

i suggest MPV na lang kunin mo instead of a car, yung Avanza 1.3 (7 seater). Nasa range ng budget mo yan and it's easier to manuever than a sedan, mainly because of driver's position and line of sight. 2nd option is Innova J variant BUT a) Im not sure kung nasa range P450T ang mga 2nd hand units, & b) it may not fall under your actual needs.
In terms of reliability and service (parts), walang problema, if you notice there are lots of Avanza taxis (5-seater).You can read other threads regarding the vehicle and ask more advice from others, especially those who owns one.

* If you're not actually a 'starter' (as you said 'wala ka alam sa sasakyan'), go for AUVs.

Get the 1st generation CRV, suspension and handling wise much better than it's successor (2nd generation), plus the fuel consumption of the former is better than the latter. Good luck.

if fuel and maintenance cost is not an issue to you, by all means go for the crv. our crv gets 6km/ltr kaya binenta namin. i would agree with ans_lim168. i find the 1st gen crv much better in almost all aspects. just need to find a well maintained one.

if fuel and maintenance cost is an issue. i will suggest you get a 2003 up corolla altis. you'll never get wrong with this car. cheaper to maintain vs. a honda and has good fc.

> How many are you in the family? 4? 3? 6?

> Are you more of an out-going person who loves to go out of town or you`re just more of a city guy?

> Do you usually have/carry LOTS of baggage?

ANSWERS:

> If you are just 3 - 4 in the family, a sedan would be perfect for you. In that budget that you gave, you could get a very reliable and a not-so-old sedan. BUT if you are 5 or more in the family, an AUV, MPV is just perfect for you.

> IF ever you are an outgoing person, then a sedan wouldnt fit you that much since you would be traveling into far places and you could encounter not so good roads. But if you are more of a city guy, like what I said, a sedan would be much more comfortable to drive.

> Obviously, if you are 4 in the family but you`re into carrying baggage, lots of them. Then the sedan wouldnt suit your needs since it's compartment might not be enough.

SUGGESTIONS:

SEDANS

> HONDA CIVIC ( 2001-2004 )
> COROLLA ALTIS ( 2002 - 2004 )
> HONDA CITY ( 2005 - up )
> NISSAN SENTRA ( 2006 - up ) since the resale value of nissans are quite low.
> MAZDA 3 ( if kaya )
> MITSUBISHI LANCER

MPV`s / AUV`s / SUV`S / CUV`S

> TOYOTA REVO
> MITSUBISHI ADVENTURE
> HONDA CRV ( preferably 1st gen, although it`s quite old, the ride is more comfortable than the 2nd generation ; 2nd gen is a gas-guzzler )

It really depends on your needs/purpose, you know.
