measure your garage's dimensions, and keep them with you.
bring a measuring instrument when you go to see your prospective cars, and compare your garage's measurements with the cars' .
cross out from your list, the cars that barely fit.
remember po, that when you car's door opens, it will need considerable space, if you want to enter or leave the car. my personal minimum is 1 meter.
and don't forget the right side of the car. add a foot or two to the total width.

Bago pati suspension, alternator at battery.
My advice, avoid converted surplus cars from Japan such as the Honda Fit.
Wow, very timely comment. Actually while browsing for car options I found this honda fit.
Can you shed me some light kung bakit ito dapat i avoid sir? I did some research earlier and read na mahirap daw kasi hanapan ng parts eto but others pointed out na same lng naman sila ng parts ng honda jazz.
Or im wrong?
Also i read na hindi na daw mareregister sa lto tong mga surplus cars but ung binebenta ay registered until 2019 pa so medyo confusing.

Honda fit is honda jazz. But those fit are prolly from japan.
Reason to stay away from conversion is marami nang ginalaw sa sasakyan (transmission, steering, etc) that can be a source of possible issues down the line (poor workmanship).
Advice, if you want to stay away from ex taxi's or alike, you can look for a hatchback.
Add an approx 30 to 50k on your budget for repairs after acquiring a unit. Do not assume all sellers are honest. And also, stay away from bayan sellers [emoji3]

Look for a good local previous gen Yaris.

the yaris sana.
but perusing olx, for some un-explained reason, it seems to be asking for a higher price than the local cousin vios.
so my recommendation is a basic MT vios. wag lang ex-taxi.
because this car is very popular here, you should have little trouble fixing her up.
Welcome to Tsikot sir!
I was on the same boat as you some 20 odd years ago. All I can give as an advise is "If there's a will, there's a way"... so follow what your heart desires and go for it. Good luck finding your first car. It is actually the one of the most enjoyable part.
follow your heart, but mediate it with your wallet.
never assume that your wallet is thicker than it really is.
the rematado garages are always full.
Go for it TS. There is always a first time for everything. And if it doesnt work, lesson learned. Good luck!

Right hand drive kasi sa Japan, meaning nasa right side yung steering wheel. Mas maigi, iwasan na lang ang converted cars from Japan as a general rule.
Just check if may oil sludge issues ang engine.
But with your 150k budget, parang may nakita ako na Lynx RS na sakto sa budget mo sa OLX... Baka gusto mo nun, matulin din yun.
On a tight budget, I'd give my vote for a 2nd hand Toyota.
-Parts are more or less very common (vs Korean, American or even other Japanese brands);
-Parts aren't too expensive ( vs. Hondas, Nissan)
-Maraming marunong gumawa, or with experience gumawa ng "remedyo" (i.e. workaround) repairs- though I also frown on the latter.
Ang 2nd hand, usually (though not always) may "mga toyo na" so expect to have to repair something down the road. I'd suggest keeping that in mind din sa budget mo.![]()
