June 14th, 2013 04:34 PM #1hi all
I'm a car person (sedan/hatch) but is it more practical / necessary to get a car with higher ground clearance to wade through floods? I live in Taguig and work at Global City. Most trips would be Taguig/Fort, Makati, NAIA.
And with a budget of 650k I could get a decent bnew passenger car but I'm forced to look at 2nd hand SUVs. And at that price range, am seeing xtrails, fuzions, crosswinds, adventures and the like with mileage of around 30k to 50k. What do you think is my best option here?

Since BGC and Makati CBD does not encounter that much flooding, a fuel efficient sub-compact or compact sedan will be a good choice, unless your daily route in Taguig involves passing thru potential areas with drainage problems. Most gas CUV's have bigger engines and are not that good in FC when idling in heavy traffic conditions (common issue within BGC and Makati CBD). A diesel (CRDi) CUV or a diesel MPV (Innova) will be a good option but the price of such (even used) will be a bit over your budget, unless you chance upon a good deal or so. A hatch like the Jazz or sub-compact sedan (City or Vios) will offer good interior space and good FC. You can also look at a used compacts - Focus TDCi, Civic, Altis, or Lancer EX. The Mirage you can buy new and offers great FC though a bit smaller in size. Not much idea about Crosswinds and Adventures, but there's a bunch of officemates of mine here in McKinley Hills who use it for their daily commute.

If you're just in Taguig - Makati - Fort a nice, fuel efficient compact should do.
Huwag na Crosswind or Adventure as magiging close kayo ng mga ASBU sa Makati at C5. :D
