I'm also planning to buy a 2nd hand car...
may mga na-canvass na rin ako...
then i saw this post by mm15744...
    It's very very interesting...
so to all experienced car buyers... pls add more...
coz i think this would be very helpfull
sa mga newbie 2nd hand buyer like me...

Checklist Before Buying a 2nd Hand Car.

    1. Tambutso dapat kulay abo at paghinipo ay parang alikabok. Pag malagkit na maitim, dontbuy the car.
    5. .....
add more tips, do's and dont's here pls... thanx...
Happy and Safe New Year to all!!

    ask for owner's manual.

check for oil leaks, especially if engine is newly-cleaned. baka may pinagtatakpang tulo.

    check for tire damage.

check all lights including brake lights, reverse lights, dashboard warning lights, license plate lights.

*Try to inspect on two occassions. 1) Sunny day under a complete shade - to inspect the paint and body panels. 2.) Gloomy day or at night - to inspect the under chassis for any oil leaks on motor, suspension, differntials, etc...

*Bring a soft flexible refrigerator magnet (not the hard ones) to check for putty or masilya on suspect body parts. Magnet will cling firmly on untouched panels and vice versa on masilya repaired panel.

*Open each door and use your hands to feel the inner edges. If its smooth then there's a likely chance there has been no repaints. If its feels grainy (or texture) or not mirror smooth then it must have been repainted already.

*Inspect weather strip (rubber) around windows. Faulty strips means water/moisture could seep in.

*Check the original OR and make sure it is not encumbered.

-check the car with a mechanic- a second opinion is usually the best!
    - ask for a list of maintenace(s) performed- probably within the year?

    For Imported vehicles:

Make sure owner also has CP (Customs Payment) or Certificate of Payment to Customs, aside from OR and CR

kung wala nito, mahihirapan kang mag register....

verify the authenticity of Certification of Registration, Renewed Official Receipt & Plate Number at the LTO-TMG Main Office at East Avenue for assurance that the vehicle is not carnapped or hot car...

asked also the receipts of replacement parts and consumables like the engine oils, filters & PMS parts if it sourced from trusted stores or serviced by trusted mechanics or known shop.

dala ka po ng mekaniko at electrician para i check ang sasakyan habang nagtatanong ka ng car history sa seller.

If its first owned casa maintained verify record from casa you may check there its history and the real odometer reading and ask for certificate of flood free.

As much as possible deal with the real owner not dealer otherwise its 30-50k more expensive. Deal with the real owner whose name appears on CR dont be ashamed to ask for his valid ID. Do not accept open deed of sale
