mga experts, need ko advise nyo.. we own a 2001 Honda Civic VTI A/T.. we bought it last year.. pinili ko ang A/T kasi akala ko iddrive ni misis un.. pero ngaung malapit na ulit ako magwork abroad, ayaw nya drivin kasi mahaba daw.. she prefer to drive a small car or a hatch one.. so ngaun, binebenta namin kotse namin para makabili ng maliit na sasakyan..

my first choice was a Honda (im a Honda fanatic) Jazz CVT 1st gen since budget ko lang ay 300k to 350k after ko mabenta kotse namin.. kaso, after reading the threads regarding CVT issues, parang nagdadalawang isip nako mag Jazz..

nasa pinagpipilian ko rin sana ang Suzuki Swift.. or Hyundai Getz (but matic are very rare).. and my last option might be a Kia Picanto.. (pero gusto ni misis looks ng Picanto though she doesn't know that much pagdating sa cars)

    Alternative choice...

Toyota Yaris. You can find them on ads sites like www.sul!t.com.ph... at the price of P400K+ ... but I think you can nego it lower to your level. The Yaris is bascially the same as the Vios.

Or if not the Yaris, why not opt for the VIOS? It shouldn't be any harder to drive than the Yaris.

Pre-owned Getz should be a good balance for your wife's needs....

Pero kung ayaw talaga, I'd suggest a hatch. Nung baguhin lang ako, I found trunks to be a bane when parking dahil mahirap magtantsa, kahit subcompact pa yan. Mas nadalian ako magpark ng AUV kesa sa subcompact sedan dahil wala siyang trunk.

Magkano ba budget mo? Kung hindi naman for keeps yung kotse na yan, the 1st gen Jazz is actually a very nice car. If you find a low mileage unit, and you take very good care of it, it should still be able to give you many years of fantastic, painless ownership.

begging your pardon, but.. what was your wife driving before, that gave her the impression the civic was a long-ish car?
because if this is her first drive, then there's no guarantee that the next car, no matter how short, will be "short enough".
my recommendation? get a hatch with a back-up mirror.. yung nakikita mo sa reflection ang bumper ng kotse at ano ang babanggain niya..
