Mga master ask ko lang kung may 400k kayo, would you go for a 2nd hand car or i pang downpayment na lang sa brand new car ( alam ko may nag ooffer ng 50% downpayment and the yung remaining 50% eh zero % interest na for 5 years.

parang walang 0% interest for 5 years. 1 year siguro pede pa.
Sedan or SUV? pang binata o pampamilya?
Bro,- if I have P400K, then I will hold on to it, until I encounter a very good bargain....
Ikut-ikot ka lang muna bro., at maghanap ka ng magandang tiyempo for a pre-owned vehicle...
Remember Cash is King...
I was looking for a pre-owned vehicle a few months ago for some requirements,- and I have some money to spare. But I did not rush... Tanung-tanong at ikot lang, until I encountered a 4-year old vehicle with barely 10KKm mileage, just out from nowhere... I was able to buy it at P450K lower than its price 4 years ago- acceptable depreciation... Good bargain.... So far, walang kaproble-problema,- So, sabi nga nila naka-jackpot.
You have to realize that the depreciation of brand new vehicle is staggering... Don't get me wrong as I am buying brand new vehicles, too, but we all have different financial capacities and requirements. And so...

If you can get a mad bargain like that... or anything under 20-40k kms for 400k pesos, that's the best bet.
Personally, since I value fuel economy, I'd be putting that money into a brand new Eon or an almost new 1.3 MT Jazz. Smaller cars have less depreciation over time, even from new, and the lower running costs, insurance and registration costs will pay dividends over time.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
i recommend full cash payment, whether new or used.
the problem with installment, is that it may look ok on paper, but a living hell come every end of the month. remember that come end of the month, the only sure items are your paycheck and the installments. sometimes, even your paycheck is unsure..
everything else is up in the air... food bills, meralco, nawasa, health bills,..
Brand new! Yun mga namomoblema ng amort Sa end of the month eh living beyond their means yan

I'd get the newest/best condition 2nd hand car for the budget. For 400k, you'd be looking at the lowest line of the brand new car spectrum. That would mean living with barebones small cars. You can go a notch or two higher in the 2nd hand market.
Hard to find an old car capable of 20 kml... Except maybe an old Alto 800 or a Focus TDCi, which costs more to maintain than an Eon or Alto.
Of course, best ang 1.3 MT GD Jazz. Kayang kaya ang 20 kml sa highway, ultra-cheap to maintain, terrific residuals, lots of space... 300k, kasya sa budget...![]()
Thanks sa mga input masters.
Actually, my situation is that a high school friend of mine is offering his 2004 isuzu crosswind xuvi with AT for 380k.ang hindi ko gusto sa unit ay yung matic tranny for that old car and yung mileage which is 171k kasi cavite to makati yta lagi ang takbo ng unit.im sure hindi binaha ang unit ang barkada ko owner since high school.
What I am considering now is instead of getting his unit eh pang down ko na lang pera ko sa bnew toyota innova J, yun nga lang my monthly ako babayaran.hehe.Im a family man with 2 child so family car namin ang hanap ko kasi right now, what we have is a 1998 nissan sedan.
I agree with Renzo, mag Avanza ka na lang instead of Innova kung 2 lang anak mo especially if you are also considering taking out a car loan. Mas mura Avanza. But if otherwise, i highly suggest taking time to look at good quality used cars.
But i personally believe that cash is king. I personally hate paying for the monthly payments kaya for cars, i pay in cash. One exception is when i was starting out in new york, kelangan ko mag establish ng credit so i bought a used CRV at umutang ako sa bank.
Seeing that the Crosswind is a high miler, luma pa, baka daming repairs yan in the end.
minsan kasi kapag walang offer, wala tayong balak bumili eh....
If you can find a well maintained second hand car within your budget then go for the second hand.
But make sure your emergency fund is intact, stay liquid ika nga. Otherwise get a brand new car instead, kaya mo naman ata ang monthly amortization.
