2nd hand car goals

mga sirs, patulong naman po, pero hindi pa naman agad ang acquisition... budget would start around 200k, para malaki sana ceiling pampagawa if any.

i have listed the brands, along with the pros and cons that i'm aware of as far as i know, and also the models. if i missed any, pls pakidagdag na lang po... also, prefer a/t sana. thanks in advance.*

1. honda - coz i have never owned a honda and have always wanted to own and drive a honda! quality at its best pagkakaalam ko. and, there's a sense of prestige of owning a honda. don't know lang about fuel efficiency.*
cons: pricey, pati mahal "daw" parts and maintenance... saka, kahit 2nd hand, mas mahal talaga jazz kesa civic?!*
models: jazz (of course!) - any gen/year, pero prefer ko yung 2nd gen. civic vti/lxi - 1998-2005 or later.*

2. nissan - of course, for cold a/c. pati, mas mura bilhin kasi mababa resale value. parts availability is also not a problem.*
cons: none that i know of.. pero baka fc ng 2000s sentra being underpowered?
models: sentra - 1998-2005 or later.*

3. toyota - siyempre for reliability and parts availability.*
cons: medyo mahal kahit 2nd hand.*
models: corolla small body, big body or lovelife... or even vios, if budget allows it.

4. mitsubishi - almost same with toyota in terms of reliability. but superior fuel economy (mirage).*
cons: none that i know of... though di yata ganun kaganda suspension?*bad fc yata for lancer mx/cedia?
models: lancer pizza pie pre-2000's to newer ones na mga mx/cedia, my 2nd choice i guess (considering that this is a sedan, price is way lower for 2nd hand compared to my pangarap na jazz!), mirage hb/g4 (if may mababa).*

5. ford - afaik, mura 2nd hand kasi mababa lang din resale value, then ok ang mga toys ni ford.*
cons: mahal "yata" ang parts, saka medyo mahirap availability... and issue yata ng ford ang a/t transmission?
models: 2000's lynx, fiesta (if may mababa).*

6. hyundai, kia - low resale value, 2nd hand easier to acquire.*
cons: not sure about parts availability and fuel economy.*
models: getz, i10, picanto*

i'll get a lovelife. you can get a 1.6 GLi for below 200k. parts are a plenty. masarap gawing euro look pagtagal tagal.
but then again, practice due diligence. it being a Toyota does not necessarily mean na walang problema makina nyan. nasa previous owners pa din yan.

Agree with the Lovelife. Engine is decently powerful and thrifty. Parts can be found anywhere. Get the manual for better performance and FC. This is much better than the 1st gen Vios which was very cramped inside.

Then there's the ES Civic. If you can find a decent unit, it looks more modern and upscale than the Lovelife. Expect higher parts costs though.

I'd vote for the Jazz because it's extremely efficient and spacious for its size. Very underpowered on the highway though.

Only concern is that 200k will definitely not be enough for a decent secondhand Jazz. Maybe 250-300k if you want a nice Jazz.

However, at that price you could already get a Mazda 3 2.0, which I think is the best car in that price range as long as you don't care much about fuel efficiency (I only get 5-7 km/L with my Mazda 3).

a few thoughts though, based on the suggestions mentioned above and/or based on my pref:

- jazz: wala masyado nag-suggest, sir jut703 lang as of now... is this probably due to pricing being high/impractical pag 2nd or parts or maintenance cost?
- getz: if hyundai, yes, getz appears to be very reliable and afaik, has good economy - but if hatch, either jazz or mirage sana prefer ko.
- corolla "lovelife": adding this to my list. by then, sana maka-tiyempo nang di pa masyadong sakitin - considering its age.
- civic es "dimension": looks very interesting! would like to know more about this particular gen ng civic... though, almost double the price ng lovelife.

The Jazz doesn't have expensive parts and maintenance is cheap. It's just a subcompact after all. The only downside is that it's expensive in thensecondhand market.

The Getz is as basic as basic gets. If you want to have a car for the sake of having one, the Getz is a cheap option. Not very durable though so expect to spend a lot on repairs.

The Lovelife is okay but it's a really old car. Nothing special about it either - cramped compared to the Big Body before it, same engine, same features, boring looks. Reliable, yes, if that's what you care about.

The Civic ES is a nice option if you get the facelifted model (2003 onwards). I like it more than the similarly-aged Altis. More power, better looks, better handling.

A look at Olx shows that the Altis already fits your budget, in this case, no need to look at the Lovelife. The Altis is leagues better in terms of space and refinement.

The ES Civic looks really nice, especially the facelifted version. I find it more timeless than the FD that came after it. It actually kind of looks like a scaled-down 7th gen Accord.

Nagkaroon kami ng 98 lovelife, 96 civic tska 02 sentra exalta. Then may 07 altis ako ngayon. Walang hatak ung civic sabi ni erpats pero madali pagandahin nga naman. Ung lovelife muka lang maliit pero okay ang loob at sobrang tipid sa gas. Ung nissan for that price baka totl variant na makuha mo. Ung altis naman around 03 to 06 ang pasok sa budget mo marami lang issue sa aircon (pag ung denso). With budget sa pagawain toyota ka talaga makaka tipid. Sa oras at parts. Kahit san may marunong at nakaka alam.

Kung 2nd hand na medyo bago bago gusto mo ito beautiful advice ko.

Panalo ang 2nd gen jazz kung porma at madali maneobrahin. Wag 3rd gen jazz kasi nasobrahan sa retoke ang kinalabasan, yung front and back bumper meron apat na kwarto para sa kuting at daga.

Pag vios yung previos gen kasi perfect pagkagawa, ganda ng likod pabilog at magaan ang andar. Yung vios ngayon eh ewan ko ano naisip nung nagdesign nyan. Parang nagpatahi ka ng amerkana pero masikip sleeves sa kaliwa at maluwag sa kanan. Mas better yung new yaris kung may makuha ka second hand.

Isa pa panalo ngayon ito 6th gen honda city. Wala ako mapintas dito. Pero pilitin ko maghanap ng mapipintas pero sa ngayon wala talaga. Kung meron ka makuha 2nd hand eh ito panalo. Ngayon lang tinalo ng city ang jazz sa porma.
