I would avoid the Innova. The cabin vibration from the diesel engine is extremely uncomfortable.

Thanks, sir jresperanza!
b. may source ka nyan problematic MT? tried and tested na ang manual transmission, baka AT ang nabasa mo may problema?
>> yup, tried and tested si manual which is why sya yung balak ko kunin. yung iniisip ko na maintenance item is not specific on the transmission (although i understand na yun ang naisip nyo kasi binanggit ko yung "MT" doon sa original message). yung question ko is on the unit overall, if madali sya mahanapan ng parts if may mag-breakdown. sa pagkakaalam ko kasi, relatively "rare" ang mga manual transmission na CRVs, karamihan nyan AT. so based on that "rarity" naisip ko lang baka mahirapan ako maghanap ng piyesa down the line.
but since naopen up na rin naman na yung topic regarding transmission, magtanong na rin ako. kung may masira man sa transmission na kelangan ikumpuni/ikumpune(?) in the future .. since manual transmission naman sya, i guess interchangeable yung parts ng CRV MT with the other MT models in the honda line-up. I am basing this statement on my limited knowledge regarding transmissions - generally speaking, parepareho lang ang piyesa ng manual transmission assembly from within the different honda models - please correct me if i am wrong hehe
but if you tell me na yung MT components netong CRV is specific for the CRV alone .. na i can't use the same components coming from other honda models using MT .. then ayun, baka nga magkaproblema ako on sourcing in the future.
regarding the jazz .. CVT po yung akin, so smooth ang drive + the fact na magaan lang ang paa ko sa silinyador heheh

November 22nd, 2021 12:51 PM #3MT ba kamo? interchangable yan with other generations, baka nga with other brands pa kase part yan ng cost cutting na isa lang ang design ng parts kahit magkakaiba generations or brand ang gumagamit, lalo na sa MT na very common na...
Hmmm, jazz na CVT tapos nakaka hilo? interesting, i imagine comfy ang jazz because honda can demand a high price for it... kase ako na experience ko din yan sa tatay ko coming from bnew 1991 toyota lite ace MT tapos nag palit siya ng bnew 1997 mitsubishi lancer pizza GLXi AT, grabe nakaka hilo ang pag preno niya, after 4 years na dispose na din yung lancer pizza kase lagi sira aircon at napalitan ng bnew 2001 honda cr-v 2nd gen MT at tatay ko pa din ang driver, happy kids na ulet kame sa driving niya...Last edited by jresperanza; November 22nd, 2021 at 01:51 PM.

November 23rd, 2021 10:56 AM #4No amount of vehicle comfort will lessen motion sickness. Trust me . . .I had that since I was a kid . . . the only thing that prevented me from vomiting is the gush of air on my face....I still have a bit of motion sickness that is why I prefer to drive than to be a passenger . . . sa banka o barko lang ako halos walang motion sickness which I find a bit ironic...
Having said that, I own an Innova Diesel 2.5 (2013). Almost zero maintenance vehicle as mentioned by one of the replies. But we chose this because I tend to load a lot of stuff . . I buy angle bars (20ft), plywood (8ft), metal tubes (20ft) and I put it all on top on a roof rack....So it boils down to what your needs are...it seems you need the CRV due to the comfort needed by your family...so get that one

November 23rd, 2021 11:56 PM #5Almost a decade ago now I accompanied my dad to see a a doctor specializing in vertigo. He was getting experiencing vertigo, getting dizziness and nausea when doing sudden head movements or when riding a car. He was regularly chauffeured by a driver.
I still remember some of what the good doc said. Aside from age-related changes to the inner ear, there's also the factor of the inner ear not matching sensory input felt by the body and visual stimuli from the eyes. He stopped using a driver and started driving for himself, which lead to the condition pretty much going away.
I think this was a big factor. It's like the way some people get motion sickness when playing first person games, because the visual stimuli they get from walking and running around in-game doesn't match the sensation reported by the inner ear which tells the brain you're just sitting still in a chair.
Maybe seat the carsick kid in front (is this still legal to do?) and have him watch the road?

November 24th, 2021 10:27 AM #6looking into the distance is an age-old fix against travel vertigo and such.
also, motion sickness pills probably also help.
truly, not all men (and women) are created equal.
and,
if i may,
have a check-up with the eye doctor?

November 24th, 2021 01:53 PM #8True on this doc.
i have the same dizziness on 1st person shooters.
Sitting in the front might help alleviate the car sickness.
Also rear or side facing seats doesn't eliminate the vertigo and it even makes it worst for me.
i remember taking road trip to Las Vegas in a Minivan in which you can move the last row seats to face the back. it made my vertigo worst, moving to the front or the 2nd row made it better.

November 24th, 2021 10:42 PM #9thank you for all the input fellow tsikoteers
regarding the car condition, i will be bringing it to the casa for overall verification. wala naman akong kilala rin kasi na mekaniko na pwede dalhin sa buy&sell shop .. so casa should be better din overall kasi marami silang 9/18/27(whatever) point checks na ginagawa to thoroughly assess the condition of the car.
may heads up na yung suking service advisor ko sa honda pasig.
based on their assessment kung ano yung kelangan palitan, yun yung gagamitin ko na bargaining chip for the car.
sobrang helpful din yung input regarding the vibration of the diesel engine. lahat ng naging kotse ko before gas, so again, thank you for that sirs
