For a car, atleast 40k total family income. For the sub 700k cars.
For a house? Well, do what the IS did. SQUAT! It is free, and you will get tons of dole outs.
Social justice at its best.

I'd get a house too even if it means my income would be sagad, since a house is an investment you should make as early on as possible because land is running out, and land appreciates very quickly.
But I agree with you completely, a car is not worth that level of financial pressure.
RET is not that bad (I used to make the payments for several years). The cost never went up. It seems like they don't ever update the RET from when you acquired the property. We don't pay that much for my Lola's house and it is in the middle of MM.
Caloocan is too far from the CBDs and are there plans of developing Caloocan? I would rather buy South.

Not everyone wants to live in Caloocan. I'd rather save more to get a house near the CBDs. Of course it's more expensive, but that's the price you pay for convenience.
If I leave my office at 6pm, I'd be home by 6:20 and I'd be done with my dinner and biking before the guy who drives from BGC to Caloocan even gets home.

a bit off topic post para kay TS
nung nasa ganyan range pa lang sweldo ko noon and maliit pa buy and sell ko, 50" plasma tv and hi end computer lang pinangarap kong bilhin (di sumagi sa isip ko yung auto). kahit na kaya naman i-swipe sa credit card di ko parin tinuloy dahil DI SIGURADONG mababayaran ko. though OK naman ang kita sa buy and sell, di naman sya stable income. ending, i bought the hi end computer setup (spent 180k in a span of 2 years) instead of buying both.

In the island of guam you can afford a car even if you only make minimum wage. It just have to be a korean car of a used one
