Well, at least I'll give props to the guy for his gratuity towards his parents.
I'm assuming you're not mechanically inclined. If you are, say hello to secondhand car options as you can have more car for less money. If you're not, okay na yun Mirage.
I also hope they're paying this in cash. If it's on a term-based basis, re-evaluate your need depending on term financing. The longer it is and the smaller the DP, I'd say "magcommute ka parin. It means it's taxing your family's finances" but if it's relatively short, I'd say go for it.

If budget permits it, get a vios J instead. Its bigger and its a toyota. the mirage hb doesnt have any real competitors. Its priced way too good. However if your budget can go higher you should consider the base fiesta hb and the vios J. Both are under 700k. Last time i checked the fiesta is at 690k while the vios J is at 630.

Give this man a medal!
Minsan ka lang makakakita ng ganyan na grateful kahit hindi yung gusto ang nakuha.
Anyway, the Mirage 1.2 is good enough. But you might want to haggle with your parents to get an Accent CRDi Hatchback MT instead. If im not mistaken, it's around 700k-ish. Much more expensive, yes. But the efficiency is just stupidly amazing. Highway driving ka pa, diesel, di pa mabigat paa mo. ~20km/L isn't unlikely to happen.
Hatch naman yan. And pag tumagal tagal na at nagsawa ka sa 80kph, there's a whole lot of power and torque at disposal just under your right foot. Thanks to its CRDi engine.
Merry Christmas btw.
