    good day sa lahat,

i am planning to buy my first car. i am not familiar with the car stuffs, so i need ur advice/s.

    1. i am convinced to buy Toyota Innova . Question is, what should i get, choosing from the following:

    Innova E M/T Dsl Php1,027,857.90
    Innova E A/T Gas Php1,038,101.65
    Innova E A/T Dsl Php1,094,442.28
    Innova G M/T Gas* Php1,073,954.78
    Innova G M/T Dsl* Php1,130,295.40
    Innova G A/T Gas* Php1,140,539.15
    Innova G A/T Dsl* Php1,196,879.78

*Additional 15,000.00 for White Pearl Exterior Color (G & V Models Variants only).

My initial preference is between Innova E A/T Dsl and Innova E M/T Dsl.

    2. I really wanted to get Mitsubushi Montero Sport but it's a bit expensive. Maybe i can only afford (and have to flex my budget) GLX 2.5D 2WD MT (Non-VGT). Is it worth it (compared to buying Innova)?

    Montero Sport GLX 2.5D 2WD MT (Non-VGT) 1,198,000
    Montero Sport GLX 2.5D 2WD AT (Non-VGT) 1,298,000
    Montero Sport GLS V 2.5D 2WD AT 1,458,000
    Montero Sport GLS V 2.5D 4WD MT 1,550,000
    Montero Sport GTV 2.5D 4WD AT 1,708,000
Montero Sport GLS 3.0G 2WD AT (Gas variant) 1,440,000

    3. Open to other choices:

    Hilux 4x2 E M/T Php 990,373.53
    Hilux 4x2 G M/T Php1,160,346.65
    Hilux 4x4 G M/T Php1,452,293.53
    Hilux 4x4 G A/T Php1,507,609.78

    Price / LTO (Registration)
    DMAX LT 4X4 MT 1,150,000.00 / 8,300.00
    DMAX 4X4 Boondock SE 1,378,000.00 / 8,300.00
    DMAX LT 4X2 MT 860,000.00 / 8,300.00

    DMAX LS 4x2 MT 1,148,000.00 / 8,300.00
    DMAX LS 4X2 AT 1,208,000.00 / 8,300.00
    DMAX LS 4x4 MT 1,378,000.0 / 8,300.00

    * Not Official Isuzu Website.

    4. These are the prices posted on the websites as of this posting. Do i get a discount if buying (on cash) at the the car dealer/branch itself (Toyota, Mitsubishi or Isuzu)?

My allotted Budget: Php 1,100, 000.00
Time Factor: I plan to but this January, 2013, but can wait a few more months if advisable.
My Location: Home Address, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.
I am currently working in Cebu City, though, and may buy it here but the car has to be transported to Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.

    5. Use: Basically a family car. Toyota Innova can actually do the job but I really like the exterior and interior designs of the other cars mentioned above.

    6. What do you think of buying second-hand (slightly-used) cars, and at least save a few bucks. Is it advisable? Is saving worth risk-taking than buying brand new cars?

Thanks much. I am open to any advice/s.

i personally prefer brand new ones. for family use, aalisin ko sa choice ang pick-up dahil open ang likod. pag lalagyan ng cover, halos same price na sa innova or montero. and doesn't have 3rd row seat. i think montero GLX is worth buying over innova. different category sila with almost same price. montero GLX has a standard discount of 20k. while innova has promo that i think it can reach 70k, not sure though. just my opinion

The most practical Innova variant would be the E D4D M/T.

I would prefer the Montero over the Innova. More upscale look, more punch, higher ground clearance equating to superior flood wading capability. Watch out for smoke belching problems though.

The pickups are fine, but are you ok with the reduced seating capacity and harsher ride?

You may be able to get discounts especially during this time of the year.

I am very much ok with buying 2nd hand. Most of the cars in our family are 2nd hand, and they're bought in excellent condition, some of which are already quite old when bought ('01 Revo diesel bought 2010, '04 Accord V6 bought 2011, '06 Tribute 2.3 bought 2012, '08 Santa Fe CRDi bought 2012). You do have to exercise caution when buying 2nd hand cars, keep an eye out for flooded units.

Happy 2nd-hand car owner ka din pala idol GTi!

Ako din truly-satisfied boss as far as the Grand Vitara 2.7 V6 goes, it being the car i acquired used but in mint-condition as the rest were acquired new.... Before i took the GV, i seek the help of a professional and recognised car inspector to check thoroughly the unit. After two hours of thorough check, including a brief test ride, he's verdict was: "It's a lovely car! You'd definitely enjoy it for how long you'd like to use it for. You have a way of looking into cars man!" Hehe.... End-story short, i took it and very much satisfied as a 2nd- or even 3rd-hand owner perhaps hehe....

YUP, caution these days is to keep an eye on flooded units
