about scotty kilmer. his vids are clickbait, voice is annoying LOL. i don't trust that guy

as for CVT they're fine for normal use so don't be afraid to buy, just don't do heavy duty things like towing another car or trailer. don't do rapid acceleration all the time. don't climb baguio daily/weekly. just be gentle all the time and change cvt-f a bit early. however... everytime you go hard you slooooowly kill the tranny so depending on your personality type this could be a deal breaker

One agent told us though, “kung mayrun sana unit under service, puwede daw namin test drive”. Natakot ako bigla para sa mga owners ng RAV4 at Camry.

Puwede siguro test drive sa mga tulad ng Vios or Rush or Innova or Fortuner - yung mga mabenta.

I hope this will solve the problem. Modern problem requiring modern solutions

Anyway, if you ever decide to go Mazda 2, I'd suggest the hatchback. You won't believe how versatile the cargo space is. One time I've loaded a set of rims in a hatchback, try doing that with a sedan.
The 2022 model sir only has 1 variant which is the hatchback

If I ever ended buying with a CVT, hindi naman ako gigil sa silinyador so siguro okay lang.
    Thank you po for sharing.

I do rapid accelerations with my XT and ASX. No issues naman with its CVT tranny. Before the pandemic, I drive daily in SLEX and I am not one who take my time driving slow. On open roads, I don’t mind pushing the car over 150kmh. I don’t use them for towing but I have used them to carry big appliances or boxes of floor tiles.

There is nothing wrong if you drive your car to an elevated area like Baguio or Tagaytay. You can’t say you can’t drive to Baguio or Tagaytay everyday if you happen to live there and need to work on the lower areas.

Always remember, maintenance and care are important to keeping the car in good driving condition. Kahit anong tibay pa ng kotse mo pero burara ka, masisira talaga yan.

I know it's kind of a douchebag move but... what if mag test drive ng 2nd hand unit kung may available nearby na binebenta?

Corolla Cross would do. Just don't get the hybrid version.

I was suppose to buy an Altis V on the first week of January, but to no avail, it was already out of stock until now. Maybe because of the upcoming GR corolla.

Now I've decided to close my choices to C-segment sedans. With a price increase from 1.2m V to 1.3m for the V GR corolla, I am hoping that there will be also other upgrades aside from the body kits and minor suspension tweak. Or atleast retain the V trim level without the GR body kits. Else, I might go for Mazda 3.

Just get a Civic. Even the base model Civic comes with a turbo engine already.

Major practicality advantage ng Mazda is the 5-year PMS that's included in the price.

Based on interior space it is the "cozy" one. Good enough for normal-sized people though.

Why choose the Altis when you can get the same interior size and a more powerful engine for around the same price with a Civic? Not to mention better looking yung Civic. Unless of course, you’re a die-hard Toyota fan.

I plan to own the vehicle long term atleast 8-10 years. I agree the civic is the most practical to buy now with more features and honda sensing, but it just not ticks the long term cost of ownership because of the turbo maintenance..

I don't really mind the space at the back because usually 2 lang kami sa car. As long as it can fit adults, it's fine. No need for them to be the most comfortable than the driver [emoji16]

The first batch of turbocharged Civics came out in 2016. They are already 6 years old. These cars have no reported issues. I guess they are as reliable as their non-turbo counterparts.

We have turbo gas cars, a turbo diesel car, and a gas NA car. Halos no difference in maintenance. Yung turbo diesel lang medyo sakit sa ulo - it’s a VW.

Unless of course you’re a slob with maintenance or just being careless, most vehicles will serve you good if you take care of them.

A friend of mine shared her Civic RS Turbo 40k PMS. It costed her 17k. Is the PMS cost somewhat close if a vehicle is NA engine?

Ask your friend to go over the details? Kung Wala sa recommended service, don’t pay for it. There’s a reason for the owner’s manual - you need to read it to understand your vehicle. Kung aasa ka lang lagi sa casa, chances are maisahan ka nyan. Na biktima na kami before.

Gas cars need basic maintenance - change oil every 10k km, clean brakes, rotate tires, change tranny fluid, change brake pads, change tires, etc. You can do it outside casa after warranty expires. I do casa within the first two years and just opt to service our cars in trusted shops after two years.

What do you need to do on 40k km actual mileage for a Civic turbo? Change oil, change air filter, change cabin filter, change CVTF, clean brakes, change brake pads filter if necessary. These are the same things you do on a non-turbo gas car.

Yes. 15k 40k PMS ng Altis ko before. 40k is really an expensive PMS because you change all fluids there.

Only advantage I see with the Altis is that it’s cheaper than the Civic. Altis 1.6V at 1.2M has more features than base model Civic Turbo at 1.3M.

If hindi naman base model Civic kukunin mo, then it’s better than the Altis hands down.

I had my Altis for 55k km and my Civic for 80k km. Similar maintenance costs, nothing major nasira with both cars.

Any reason why you’re getting a compact sedan?

My past 5 cars have been compact sedans (Mazda 3, 2 Altises, 2 Civics) but in this day and age the subcompact CUVs make more sense since they’re able to match the features, performance, and space of a compact sedan but with higher ground clearance and more cargo versatility.

There’s also nothing an Altis can do that a Vios can’t. In fact for most people they’re unable to tell an Altis vs a Vios.
