Mga bro, can I ask for your advice on several very basic concerns/questions before I buy a 2nd hand car? I have checked several great units and I just have to choose na lang.

    1. What's the most advisable transfer arrangement? Dapat ba ako mag-ayos nito o yung seller? O kaming dalawa? If so, does that I mean I have to join him in securing TMG/PNP clearance kung wala pa?

    2. Sabi nung isang (buy and) seller, open deed daw hawak nya, meaning nakapangalan pa sa 1st owner. Safe ba to? How do i ensure na di ako maloloko? Dapat ba talaga bayaran ko na bago magpirmahan ng deed?

    3. What's the best payment mode? I'm thinking cheque or account transfer. Pano ba to, abot ko cheke tapos abot nya deed, ganon ba? I read somewhere na sa LTO pinaka-ok magbayaran when you transfer the OR/CR to your name.

    4. Any other tips you can give? Sorry for my rather ignorant questions, ayoko lang kasi maloko.

    Thanks in advance mga bro!

    - have it transferred to your name. samahan mo sa LTO kung puede. from there naman makikita kung may problema yung oto.

    - You should have a 2nd deed of sale between you and the person you're buying it from. Make sure he includes a photcopy of his ID.

    - Kung cash, have him meet you inside your bank. Or ask for a managers check. Check ok lang kung magkakilala kayo.

    - Get a copy of the OR/CR and have it verified at LTO. Know where the seller lives. Ask people around the neighborhood to make sure he really is from that area.

its eigther ikaw o kayong dalawa, prior to payment secure clearnce from TMG/PNP, kung meron ng clearance, verify the clearance document issued by TMG/PNP ksi sya ang naglakad nun at hindi ikaw, for additional info. upon verification by TMG/PNP nagbabayad ng clearance fee ang may ari ng vehicle sa Land Bank.

tama ka, pag ganyan ang set up, definitely sa buy and sell ang kausap mo so the more na dapat mag pa TMG/PNP Clearance ka, please be reminded also na kung saan originally ni-register ang car, dun ka pupunta para sa transfer of ownership medyo mahirap kung sa malayo ang original owner. i think wala problema kung open deed ganyan talaga ang gingawa ng ahente, so lalabas na hindi ka 3rd owner instead 2nd owner ka lng. kaliwaan dapat ang byaran, simple lang, dapat na verify mo na lahat

kung papayag ng cheque, well and good, ung iba kasi ayaw, as i said, ang pag transfer ng car thru Cert. of Reg. gagawin yan sa place where the vehicle was originally registered kasi nandun ang registration file. check mo muna kung saan para may idea ka kung san ka pupunta kung sakali.

mas maganda kung masama sa deed of sale stipulating therein a warranty period of at least 2 to 3 mos. para sa aircondition, yung iba kasi pumapayag, para may assurance ka sa lamig ng saskyan ng bibilhin mo. kung ok naman ang airconditioning sys. there is no reason para di sya pmyag diba.

hope this will help, ingat lang bro!

thanks a lot for your replies. i'll keep them in mind for sure.

one of the sellers i'm talking to says na open deed daw hawak nya tapos cash payment daw dapat (i might insist on paying through manager's check instead). tapos wala pang tmg clearance. ako na lang daw bahala dun including lto transfer, basta bigay nya sa kin yung deed at yung kotse upon payment. do you smell something fishy here? ang basa ko, mukha namang ok lang sya kausap, tamad lang talaga mag-asikaso at gusto nang idispatsa yung auto. besides, mura talaga yung bigay nya. my mechanic says ok pa lahat maski mga pang-ilalim.

if ever patulan ko yung open deed sans the tmg clearance and lto registration, mukhang i'll go for the 2nd deed na option para sigurado. magkano ba ang gagastusin ko sa tmg clearance and lto transfer for a car worth 200k? tapos magkano naman ang insurance?

pls help, it's my 1st time having a car registered under my name, and i don't want my money going to waste. thanks ulit mga sir!

It's either tamad lang sya mag-askikaso or may problema yung car. Try to negotiate to get help from him for transfer of ownership even if you have to add a little.

Transfer of ownership and registration would cost around 5k.

    Good luck on your endeavor.

just like in my case, a friend of mine is selling her chevy optra for 400k at 80k reading,,problem the car is still under a company car plan w/ remaining ballance,,im very much interested in buying the chevy..she is asking for the 400k payment already para mabayaran n daw nya ung remainig balance,,para matransfer n daw ung ownership form the comp to her,,tapos tsaka n nya transfer sakin( makatarungan b to?)

    QUESTIONS:
    1. what is the most safest procedure to do, if i will buy the car?
    2. applicable ba ang open DOS? ( para prang 2nd owner lng ako )

    many ty po..

Optra with 80K mileage for 400K? MAHAL! with that kind of mileage that is equivalent to an at-least five year old car!

Have you checked the resale value of Optras? a 2004 with 30K of mileage (which is normal for city driving, 10K per year) goes for 380K now.

So one with 80K of mileage, used as a company car, should be 300K or even less. Kahit casa-maintained pa yan. If the company still values it at 400K kaya kailangan niya yung amount na yun, then walk away. Over-valued. May remaining balance pa.

    * 400K at 80K mileage na Optra, think twice muna.

But going back to your question...

Kung makatarungan, tama naman yung process e. Tapusin munang mabayaran yung remaining balance bago mai-transfer sa kaibigan mo or kaya direct na sa iyo kung papayag yung company. Gagawan ng deed of sale yan. After that, bahala na yung kaibigan mo sa transfer ng registration.

1.Safest? - Kaibigan mo naman di ba? Basta sa LTO/ TMG, etc, don't deal with fixers. Yun lang.

    2. Applicable naman yan. Nasa usapan nyo na rin ng kaibigan mo.

HELP! I'm buying a 2nd hand car
