    Good Day!

My wife and I are considering buying a brand new car for our daughter who recently joined the ranks of the employed. She has been driving an MPV for years (since college) which I will now be commandeering due to a business opportunity in the province.

Our main requirement is that it needs to be an automatic transmission (AT) and kung puede sana value for money (as in hindi mabubutas yung bulsa namin kahit na maganda ang quality niya; maganda ang resale value). A minor requirement is that it be cost-efficient (hindi mahal ang maintenance cost esp. sa casa) and also fuel efficient.

    Thank you po in advance!

I was initially hoping for a budget in the P500k to P600k range, but on seeing the options available, I guess we need to bump up the budget to around P800k plus...

i was about to recommend the new minicars that are sprouting like mushrooms..
but when you said resale value.... vios! it's a proven smaller car with great resale value.
the altis also fits the bill, but it is a bigger car than the vios.
the innova diesel is also recommended, but some folks don't like its bigger size.
my used car dealer says, toyotas have the best resale value around..

Since Toyota, given na ang reliability and good resale value.

The new engine is quite fuel efficient mind you. Both 1.3 and 1.5 dual vvti should be good.

    Yes, sirLancelot, I am eyeing a 2016 Vios 1.3 E A/T P778K, and also a 2016 Honda City 1.5 E CVT P799K.

Thank you very much for the wonderful inputs guys 'n gals!!!

We're now considering between a 2016 Honda City 1.5 E CVT P799K and a 2016 Honda Jazz 1.5 V CVT P818K. Can I ask you guys how they compare in terms of fuel efficiency, handling, looks and cargo space? And which would you rather be driving?

And PLEASE suggest other car brands/models that you think we SHOULD be considering together with the two models above. FYI, we already have an MPV so I've excluded the Avanza & the Mobilio.

Does anyone have a comment on the All New 2016 Mazda2 Skyactiv V 5DR Hatchback P855K, which already comes with FREE 3-year or 60,000 kms. Periodic Maintenance Service (Parts, Oil & Labor). Hindi ba value for money ito???

nothing is free in the auto industry, sir.
they simply squirrel away the moneys somewhere so as not to be easily seen..

compute the sum total of how much you will actually pay for the cars you are considering, then add PMS costs, then compare.
then ask yourself, "am i willing to pay this much for what that car is offering me?"

what can i say about the new mazda2? it's too early to say anything.. has to be evaluated in the long run..

Anong catch para makuha mo yang "Free" PMS na yan? In house financing ba muna? Kung in house yan stay away from it.

Ah sedan. If it's 1.3 Vios versus 1.5 City, sa City na ako. As you've noted, price difference is minimal. Medyo mabigat na ang Vios ngayon, and the engine is still the same as the one in the dimunitive 1st gen, so hindi na siya ganon katipid at medyo iwan din in terms of performance.

IIRC, Honda cars have a 10tkms maintenance interval as compared to 5tkms for Toyota. That's another point in Honda's favor.
