    1) Subaru XV
    2) Honda Civic

Many suggest to go with the Subaru XV as it is a good buy. Is that accurate? I'm open to all ideas and suggestions that you guys might have. Thanks.
Same problem last year. Everest trend or civic RS. Went for trend that time then had an extra to get a new car again this year and bought the RS.

Trend pag out of town or rainy day trips. Okay din sya tipid kmi ni GF sa hotel since fold flat 2nd and 3rd row, suv chassis is strong to support extra load and vibrations. :p

RS if I feel like going fast, or sunny day and I know the place Im going to has good road condition, etc... then I'll just bring extra money for a room... LOL.

Am assuming your at late 20's... so i'd suggest the civic rs. [emoji4]

I also assume you don't bring your dog all the time, so just use your family's bigger car as needed.

Or wait for the new CR-V. [emoji7]

Your assumption is spot on What's the difference between the regular RS Turbo and the Modulo/Modulo Sport?

Correct, I don't bring my dog all the time but I don't have access all the time to my family's cars because they're all in Pampanga (I live in Manila).

I'm waiting for August 8 for the new CR-V, yes. Are there any prices on that yet?

For the two cars you have in mind I'd choose the civic in a heartbeat this is just my preference.
However, if you are also considering trunk space then maybe you can consider the mazda 3 hatchback.

The Modulo Civic is a waste of money - it's basically a regular Civic with tacky aesthetic bits slapped on.

If you really want a Civic, just choose between the RS (1.4M) and the regular 1.8E (1.1M).

The 300k difference gets you a more powerful engine with the same consumption as the 1.8, paddle shifters, leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, LED headlamps, slightly bigger rims, a rear spoiler, and other minor differences in the exterior and interior trim.

As it is though, the 1.8E is already a feature-packed car, with a remote start feature allowing you to start the car and aircon even when you're not inside, push button ignition and keyless entry, automatic LED headlamps, an Android-based touch screen head unit with Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple Carplay, automatic climate control, and so on. The 1.8L engine is powerful enough for highway driving (it will do over 200 kph without a sweat), yet is also as efficient as older 1.6L engines for city driving (7-8 km/L in moderate to heavy traffic). It also has the fundamentals which make the Civic a class-leader - futuristic looks inside and out, lots of space, and outstanding handling without compromising comfort.

However, if bringing your dog with its cage is a real priority for you, the Civic can't accommodate that. Either you let him in the car without a cage (just paw socks), or you get a different car altogether just for your dog.

The CRV will be launched on August 8. Expect pricing of the gas engine to be at around 1.5-1.6M. The base diesel will be around 1.6-1.7M. The mid-range diesel with complete features will be at around 1.8M.

It will definitely be frugal, spacious, and loaded with tech.

    Ok.

I'm starting to like the civic morw and more But like I mentioned earlier, I was kinda expecting the Honda Sensing tech to be in the Civic but unfortunately it is not. Reading this feature suit from the fine print and experiencing it personally when I drove a Nissan Altima in California in the past, I can say they are quite useful safety features. Is this a let down for the Civic?

I don't know which features will the local 2018 Subaru XV will have but I think it has some of the similar features in the Honda Sensing suite. Is there a documentation around that says these?

No Honda Sensing and the Philippine market isn't looking for it. Even in the CRV, it's only available on the 2.2M version. Not a let down for me at all - I can drive and avoid accidents without all the electronic nannies. ABS and traction control go a long way in avoiding accidents already.

The closest thing you can get to Honda Sensing under 2M is if you get the Everest Titanium Premium at 1.9M which has blind spot sensors, adaptive cruise control, collision warning, etc.

You won't know the specs of the new XV until it's launched. Your best bet is to look at the specs of the new Impreza - which has blind spot detection and nothing else. Not quite the entire Honda Sensing suite you're looking for I assume. Subaru's term for it is Eyesight, and no the Impreza doesn't have it and most likely the XV won't either.

I have to admit that I agree in it being farfetched but I'm crossing my fingers. Here's one of the articles that mentions it:

I'm waiting for reviews and I'll try going to Honda BGC tomorrow but people are saying it's too expensive for its price (V diesel variant).

Do you guys recommend the 2018 CRV S Diesel over the 2018 XV 2.0i-S or 2017 Civic RS Turbo? Would it be a better buy considering this is Honda's first diesel attempt?

It looks like the 2018 XV won't get EyeSight after all but it has some features like lane change assist, high beam assist, and rear cross-traffic detection.

If you can afford it, it's definitely a more practical choice than your other 2 options.

Noone needs a Civic RS. Heck most Civic RS owner aren't even fast drivers. As far as CUVs go, the CRV is far more practical than the XV. Not only is it more spacious, it's also a diesel. The only advantages of the XV is the AWD (which is nice to have but you don't really need) and the better handling (which has never popped up as one of your priorities).

Even the 1.6V is good value for its price, but if you're looking for a full set of toys, the S is the way to go.

Ultimately, it depends on what you want/need most in a car. So go back to that and outline your top 3 must-haves, and decide from there if you want a sedan, CUV, or PPV. Once you get that sorted, choose between the models available, again based on your top priorities.

    Fair enough.

I'd say handling is also one thing that I want to consider. I would say these are my 3 top priorities:

    1) Looks
    2) Feature set
    3) Performance

It goes without saying that cost is a factor, of course. I can live not having too much space as I can always make a workaround for my dog.

Most cost-efficient way to get your 3 priorities is the Civic 1.8E.

Ok. Like the others are saying though, isn't rhe engine of the CRV S Diesel underpowered for its size?

VW Golf GTS Business Edition+ should have everything you want. Adaptive cruise, forward collision warning with brake assist, blind spot monitor. Dog cage should fit in the back too. Great handling. Powerful at 150ps/340NM.
Athough it already has 18" wheels stock and a big sunroof, looks is subjective, you may like it or not, which may be the deal breaker.
