pwede rin po sir na i-retain nyo yung old civic nyo then buy a honda jazz 1.3 cvt, malaki po ang space nun sa loob (di nga rin ako makapaniwala b4) kasya personal ref! matipid pa po sa gas then yung sobra nyo po pang add na lang sa condo.![]()

not considering compact sedans nga hehe.
I'd still avoid buying bnew unless you're not paying interest. Nearing 30% interest on something that depreciates by 20% in a year isn't a wise purchase at all.
that's a novel way of looking at things, thanks!I'd still avoid buying bnew unless you're not paying interest. Nearing 30% interest on something that depreciates by 20% in a year isn't a wise purchase at all.
pero di naman 30% interest on one year eh. it's more like 30% interest on THREE years.
the opposite argument is that, if you put down all the cash now to buy a car, as the car depreciates, your cash depreciated as well. so it would've been better to keep the cash and invest it or something, and buy the car on terms.
bossing, i would "strongly" suggest option 1 or option 2
it seems your wife would like to have a brand new vehicle (based on your last post), just buy the Innova M/T diesel (cheapest variant) so as to compromise with her......
but if your wife would not mind a second hand vehicle, a 1st gen 2nd hand CRV M/T would give you good fuel economy (7km/liter, i currently own one) and utmost comfort and space.....plus you would have an extra P100k to P150K to save for your kids education =)
both options would leave you with 2 vehicles and substantial depreciation would not be encountered......
I would go with option one, but I would consider the Hyundai Matrix (diesel microvan) instead. It is spacious, comfortable and fuel efficient (I coud do 12+km/l on bumper to bumper traffic). However, it only comes with manual transmission.
Observe your car first and foremost though. If it gets "sickly" and unstable, it's better to sell it and buy yourselves a brand new one than shoulder the costs of maintaining your old one. Keep an eye on the second heart market as well, you may encounter a gem.
Originally Posted by orly_andico

Best not to buy second hand cars unless you know first hand how the previous owner treated the car. Expect to shell out Php 30K or more for preventative/maintainence repairs to be done on the used car before it can become reliable/road worthy again. Hondas are actually poor choices from a buyer's point of view due to their strong resale values.
In the end, get the Innova J vvti instead. Personally, I will get the D4D engine if budget allows it.
i go for option 2... pero not crv. lakas sa gas yan. kuha ka ng diesel like adventure, crosswind. or kung gusto mo malakas kunin mo pajero. layo pa naman ng byahe mo everyday. kuha ka ng malaki laking kotse na tipid sa gas :D
salamat po sa mga replies.... it seems that we are nearing to a decision now... nag da-drive po si esmi sa civic manual kaya kahit papano she knows how to appreciate cars.... she prefers auto as much as possible as women does not have strong legs muscle.. acceptable naman sa amin yung 7km/l fuel mileage for city driving.. but if CRV 2.0 auto consumes 6km/l at most in city driving we might re-consider our option... if we seetle for a manual CRV may be it would improve to a 7 km/l.. but again the thing is it is manual thus not giving us comfort in cruising aguinaldo hi-way.. we travel 70km a day (roundtrip) and it's not joke once you hit cavite roads...we are also thinking of the mini-van jazz, swift, mazda3 pero hindi talaga kakasya mga gamit pa lang ng mga bata if we have a weekend trip...i heard that innova auto are not also fuel efficient... it's like we have to sacrifice space versus fuel efficiency or the other way around... hirap talaga mag decide...
mas ok ata yung retain the old car then buy a decent 2nd hand car and from a budget of 750k sobrng daming ok na 2nd hand car around! wag mo na benta luma gamitin nyo nlng pang coding
I suggest you buy an innova diesel j variant. Ganyan din ako I had a 96 vtec galing ng car na yan kaso 120T na mileage kaya dapat narin retire, bago pa maging magastos ang maintenance. With the innova D4D hindi masyadong mahal, you get 9-10 km per liter city driving, very spacious, maganda at bagong design, at siguradong mataas resale value dahil Toyota. At isa pa dahil IMV project, designed for Third World country roads and conditions kaya heavy duty kayang kaya mga daan at baha dito. I had mine since April no problems so far.,
sell the civic ('96 vti around 275k ?) plus your 750K = 1M. get a brand new Ford Everest hehe
sir, i say Option 1. Tama si *BADKUK, mag car pooling ka and use the money for gas.
goodluck!
kids 1 and 3 year old huh...pare pareho tayo, im sure you'll agree that kid's things surely eats up space...here's my take
retain your car (for personal use) then buy 2nd hand everest, crv (manual), innova or 2000 up starex
check out the kia carnival/sedona thread,i was a happy carnival owner b4 (downgraded when i needed the cash)....my wife's titas call it a "mobile playroom"...it drives like a car (albeit a very big one) & isn't too bad looks-wise...quality's surprisingly good, its just preceded by Kia's ill-rep caused by the pride...get the diesel version, of course. and keep the civic =)
