    Mga Tsikoters.....

Please help in sharing your analytic inputs of whether getting a diesel engine or gas engine.

Scenario: Using Altis 1.8 2003 for work in sales that goes around everyday for site meetings. We want to change kasi ang lakas sa gas.

Objective: Use a vehicle na matipid sa fuel and more Km covered plus hindi mabigat ang periodic maintenance.

Looking at Sorento, Sportage, or Santa Fe ( if kaya ang financing). We need cargo space for loading stuffs

Looking at Innova G. We need cargo space for loading stuffs

Need Help: Diba ang diesel mas maraming maintenance schedule...like every 5K....then mas maraming parts pinapalitan? Pero mura ang fuel and mas maraming milleage covered? Pag nag gas naman.... seldom ang maintenance and lesser parts pinapalitan, pero lesser milleage covered? What would then be the right engine variant to get...let say 3 years computation....would answer the objective?

    Thanks in advance.

AFAIK ang diesel engine ang mas konti ang pinapalitan pag due na sa maintenance. Change oil and oil filter lang every 3K and change/replace air filter.

Sa gas engine naman ang change oil every 5K (can be extended to 7K kung superior synthetic oil ang gamit), change spark plugs every 10K, clean or replace air filter element every 5K.

Cost per Km-wise, its hard to beat a diesel, even the old rattlers can beat the new variable valve gas engines on fuel mileage.

Diesels will get more Km/L compared to gas engines with similar power output. Also, the cost of diesel is much lower than gasoline. Ang medyo mas malaking gastos lang yung mga filters and oil because diesels will most likely be larger in displacement than gas engines thus the need to use more oil per oil change.

Pero if you do the math, you can't really beat a diesel in terms of economy.

Sorento - For business ? Nah. Sayang. Mahal pa. If purely private lang ang use, then go for it.

Sportage - Too small for hauling cargoes.

Santa Fe - the 2.2L diesel version is enough. maganda na power ng diesel, so no need na for the gas version.

Innova G - get the gas. maganda to in hauling stuff, wag ka magdiesel, sakit lang sa ulo ang d4d.

even in germany where diesel fuel is more expensive than petrol or gasoline, majority of the locals still prefer diesel powered engines for lower cost per mile and reliability. diesel fuel has more btu per pound than gasoline. more heat means more energy
