• Cheap fuel
• High Torque

D Cons:

• A bit higher car cost than gas
• Emissions
• Slow acceleration
• Engine noise
• Costly spare parts

G Pros:

• Fast response on pedal
• Cheap parts
• Lower car price

G Cons:

1. Pricey fuel

But i'm excited for suzuki india's 3cyl diesel. If anyone have that youtube link where they did a noise test that would be cool.

Simply put, black smoke simply means there's more fuel and/or not enough air was available upon combustion.

In addition to abiding to the prescribed PMS, there are a couple of other things that's not in the manual that I think should be given some attention, especially for high-mileage vehicles.

1. EGR valve condition and operation
2. Fuel injector wear, malfunction or leak

If an EGR is stuck open due to soot buildup or malfunctio, too much exhaust gas is displacing O2 and making the air/fuel mixture lean. On injector wear, if a leak is present or if the nozzle holes are worn out (have gotten bigger), the amount of fuel might be too much for the available O2 in the mixture. Then you have black smoke.

Just want to add dirty air filter and clogged catalytic converter are also common culprits for diesels. Low fuel rail pressure maybe on older ones.

This is what i do.
1. Replace air filter after 2x changed oil.
2. Regularly clean your muffler by water.
3. invest in a gadget that will increase air intake (Lazada have that)
4. Add 2T Motorcycle oil with 1;200 mix ratio/liter of diesel.

already did 2 LTO registration with less than 0.50 (Passing rate is 2.2)

If looking at the long run maintenance of diesel could be pain in the ass, But for gasoline it's cheaper but gas is more expensive in terms of fuel efficiency.

Diesel fuel is a lot cheaper compared to gasoline. For small displacement gas fed engines ok lang ako (up to 1.5L, beyond this i guess makakabutas na ng bulsa).

Definitely diesel. Fuel cost is so far apart at around P10-15/L depending on the station and gasoline type.

Our 3.0TD Japan surplus Granvia's city FC is simply atrocious at just slightly above 4km/L, which makes it the thirstiest diesel we have. But resulting fuel cost is equivalent to a gasoline engined car consuming 6-7km/L which is typical of a 1.6-1.8L A/T compact sedan... At 163tkms, the 1KZ engine still runs smooth as silk and is simply bulletproof. Maintaining 120km/h (~2600rpm) on the highway is a mere trifle. Absolutely no black smoke too even when the accelerator is floored. Take note this is a 20 year old car. Engine maintenance is not much. Just 6L motor oil if I remember correctly plus an oil filter change and air filter cleaning.
