Guys, patulong naman kung ano magandang car for my sis. I just got off the phone with my dad and he's leaning towards the kia sorento which is priced at 1.380m daw.

    My concerns are
How about PMS?
    6. Engine performance
    7. Diesel-fed is a plus.

    Thank you mga ka-tsikot!

i think the sorento will be too big in the streets of metro for a newbie lady driver. get her a small suv if she doesn't need the size of the sorento.

    Safety:
Mitsubishi ASX ... five stars in safety by Euro-NCAP
LINK: Mitsubishi ASX | Euro NCAP - For safer cars crash test safety rating

    Fuel Economy:
hey, it's a SUV/CUV in traffic, not much you can do. But when the traffic lightens you can get over 10kpl with a light foot on the throttle.

    Looks:
    Love it or hate it....

    Features:
    assuming top of the line...
    - all wheel drive
    - HID headlights / foglights
    - keyless entry
    - keyless push button start/stop
    - GPS navigation
    - touchscreen headunit with DVD/USB
    - headunit controls on steering wheel
    - paddle shifter
    - tiptronic type shifter for manual gear selection
    - back up sensors
    - roomy interior
    - fold down rear seats for added cargo space
    - digital info display in guages
    - power windows, power steering, power side mirrors

    Engine performance:
    150hp gasoline.

    Maintenance/PMS
So far my experience at the casa (valle verde branch) has been hassle free since I have bought my ASX. The ASX shares major mechanical parts with the Lancer EX 2.0.

    Conclusion:
The ASX would be just right. Its small enough to be easy to drive in even the tightest of spots but big enough to have it's "presence" felt when driving around other cars. Although not the most powerful SUV/CUV, it has an engine that provides enough performance to match the handling of the chassis. You would feel confident to drive this CUV through anywhere in any type of weather.

get an old sorento, the one with the 2.5 crdi engine (same as starex grx). then put bull bars front and back. at least pag nabangga ng sister mo di siya lugi. then after 3 years learning to drive safe on an old car, sell it then get a new 2016/2017 sorento.

pero kung gusto talaga ng bago, sorento it is! at least ang kia pms e mura lang, and every 6 months/5000 km. last 15,000 km pm ko P4,035 lang. wala pa corkage ang parts kung gusto mo ikaw bibili sa labas.

Parang ang laki ng Sorento for a lady driver. Although I know a few na nagddrive ng Fortuner & the like.. pero still.

What about, a Mazda CX5 or a Subaru XV ;)

nope, mas malaki yung sorento. mukha lang mas malaki ang everest kasi boxy yung body niya. subaru casa nan sa edsa greenhills, global taguig, alabang, pampanga at cebu lang.

anyway i seriously don't get why anyone would recommend a 2nd hand car for a new driver and a new lady driver at that. pano kung masiraan yan bigla kawawa naman kapatid niya babae sigurado di marunong mag ayos yan, pano kung sa tagong lugar at gabi pa siya masiraan baka kung ano pa mang yari. sorry but i won't take the risk na may mang yari sa mahal ko sa buhay para maka tipid lang, lalo na sa dami ng loko sa bansa natin na mag take advantage sayo every chance they can get. di ako mang hihinayang kung magasgasan o mabangga brand new car as long as kampante ako na di masisiraan basta basta yan kung san lugar at alam kong safe ang pamilya ko.

Ayaw ng dad ko sa 2nd hand. Mapamahiin yun eh.

Thank you bro GH! Isasuggest ko sakanya to. Walang alam sa sasakyan to eh.

Mitsubishi's after sales service is great, lalo na ngayong may mga suki na akong SA. Hehe.

How much kaya yung TOTL nito?

TOTL model of the ASX 2.0 4X4 is around P1.5M although check with your dealer because they have an automatic discount from the SRP if you pay cash.

The midrange model is a more affordable but comes in 2WD only but gets better fuel economy because of it.

If readily available yung parts sa warehouse nila wala naman problema. Pero pag hindi available, it will take a month or two before dumating yung parts from Korea.

Since wala pa siyang alam, I wouldn't mind if you get a bigger car. She'll get used to it, especially since she has no prior experience with a small car to compare to. It'll be even better if you get a manual. This way, you would have bred an excellent driver out of the box!

Maybe you can consider a Sorento 2.2R e-VGT M/T at 1.27M according to this price list: Kia Vehicles Price List | Auto Search Philippines High power, small displacement diesel engine with a manual tranny and a light foot equals great gas mileage.

Car for my sis.
