I've read articles and YouTube videos... most of them say na if everything is equal... CVT only gives you 6% savings...
Not much, pero on paper they can use that "6% savings" when making fuel efficiency presentations in developed countries.

Local setting, 4 A/T means there are chances that more third party service centers can rebuild your tranny 10+ years later.
Personally, I've met a lot of old people with 10-20 years 4 A/T cars who never replaced their transmission oil... And the car still brings them from point A-B!

Back to TS...
Get a used Innova or top of the line Sportivo.
They may not have all the safety features you're looking for, but lets face it... Both are still way better than the Grace.
If I didn't have much money, I would definitely go for a secondhand car instead of brand new.
I had both a brand new Altis and a secondhand Altis at the same time. One I bought for 850k, the other 300k. The brand new one costs almost 3x as much, but has the exact same functionality as the old one.
The old Altis (not so old actually, 7 yrs old at the time) wasn't a headache to maintain either. In fact in the 1 yr that I had it I didn't need to have anything repaired.
It's just much more practical to buy a fairly new used car. There are so many cars under 500k that are less just around 5 yrs old. You just have to be diligent in looking.
If you don't want to take the time and effort to find a used car in great condition, then by all means pay full price for a brand new one. It's your money. It's your lifestyle that will suffer from the higher monthly payments. So it's your choice.

If you buy a car under 5 yrs old, the chances of major problems is minimal.
I sold my 2 year old car last year with absolutely no issues even if it already ran 53,000 km. It even has its warranty. Buyer got it from me at 2/3 the price of a brand new one. 300k na rin natipid niya.
Yes of course a brand new car comes with peace of mind, but you pay so much more for it. Well kung madami kang pera, go ahead.
Personally I would rather save that 300k than buy brand new.

wezz,
live within your means isn't just a cliche but a very sound advice.
a brand new multicab is not expensive to maintain. it isn't a guzzler. tires of this car are cheap. it carries almost everything-- 7 passengers and all. it isn't sosyal to look at, but it can pretty much carry you from point a to point b. it is easy to dispose of if you don't want it anymore. it is easy to park for obvious reasons. it has most of the advantages that you need for a car except that it isn't pleasing to many. i have nothing against TODA but it's way better than the latter.
we are not poor all the time. with so much hard work and self belief, you can buy a super car in this lifetime. but if you're saddled with indebtedness, never in this lifetime you can buy your dream car.
think about it.
Agree with boss jut703. In my experience, costly repairs start rolling in sometime around 10 years/80k kms mileage. Our cars usually travel just around 7-8k kms per year. I consider cars below that age as "bago pa".

can you point links or just pm me privately where to look for 2nd hand cars. FB groups is shady to me. Is a 2008 sedan model for 250K a sufficient budget? May rule of thumb yearly computation ba tayo to check if overpriced yung benta.

^Proven and tested na sa akin ang Olx. They also tend to have the most updated ads. If you look for a Sentra, baka mas bago pa sa 2008 ang makita mo.

super agree with the previously mentioned advices sir. our family made wrong choices in the past of always choosing to buy from the dealership believing in the "peace of mind" advice of many not thinking of resale values, depreciation and maintenance upkeep. On the other hand our well off aka rich neighbors never bought brand new cars but we still end up drooling over their second hand car purchases eg. fairly newish suv's with a lot of add ons already by the previous owner same price of a top of the line current vios. Just learn a lot how to pick cars sir and enjoy po at the end of the day cars are liabilities and are not good investments.
Thanks guys for the very meaningful discussion and lots of tips.
As I've said, never owned a car yet that's why I'm really leaning over a new one (kahit mamaluktot) instead of a second-hand as I have no idea how to repair it just in case it has hidden issues.
I appreciate the estimation of costs by SE, whew! approx. 10k on top of the amort!
Share ko lang din experience ng brother ko with his second hand civic. He's been driving since he was 14 and really knows how to check and repair a vehicle.
He is also meticulous and very careful with his possessions.
Everything was great until such time while he and his girlfriend are in the car, may mga lumalabas na maraming maliliit na ipis from the cabin.![]()
